It is distressing to note that accidents in rail compartments, particularly
in AC coaches, are happening regularly, of late, causing lot of deaths.
Every time, the reason attributed is 'short circuit'.
While no one can doubt about the sincerity of employees working in the
Indian Railways, which is the largest Public Sector in the world, apart from
a mini secular India like Post Office, the reason given raises the eyebrow.
It is not known whether the Central Govt. and Indian Railways are
not able to find the exact truth behind such fire accidents.
In the 90s, after the Mumbai serial bomb blasts, there was a suburban train
accident. Someone in a compartment shouted 'fire, fire' and the passengers who heard the noise jumped from the moving train and fell on the adjacent tracks and crushed to death by the trains coming on these tracks. I think nearly 50 people died. It was actually bogus call.
Only time will tell.
