People how strongly u believe in rebirth . expain in detail plz.i hav plenty of questions

dr.Venkat Sir

Please do not post further question to me after reading my post; I will not answer you.

This Topic is like believing in GOD or not believing in GOD; it all depends upon one’s faith in his/her religious scriptures and teachings.

Rebirth concept is very large and many learned members in this Forum and elsewhere do not believe that Humans have a soul, and there is only one life to live; there be also many learned members who believe in Soul and Rebirth, Their belief is based on their religious scriptures, discourses made by Saints and some real life incidents.

Though Hindu, Buddhist and Jain, Sikhism. Cosmologies are entirely different from one another; the common denominator in all three faiths is the belief in rebirth.
They believe, Soul throws away the body and enters a new body as we throw away a torn clothe and wear a New clothe.

According to Catholic concept Body-Mind-and Spirit (Soul) constitutes a SINGLE UNIT "Created" by God at one Time. (UNI--not Dual) There is Only One Human birth.
Same might be belief with some other religions.

I am NOT here to say who is right and who is not right.

1) (i) Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 2, verse 22:

'vasamsi jirnani yatha vihaya
navani grhnati naro 'parani
tatha sarirani vihaya jirnany
anyani samyati navani dehi'

'As a person puts on new garments, giving up old ones, similarly, the soul accepts new material bodies, giving up the old and useless ones.'

(ii) Bhaja Govindam:

'Punarapi jananam punarapi maranam,
Punarapi janani jatare sayanam,
Iha samsaare khalu dusthare,
Krupayaa pare pahi murare'

'Again and again one is born,
And again and again one dies,
And again and again one sleeps in the mother’s womb,
Help me to cross,
This limitless sea of Life,

Which is un crossable, my Lord'

2) Karma theory and cycle of rebirth

Karma or past births etc. are talked of, to resolve things and get answers in this life, so that we can deal better with situations that we face.

We are all born with certain dispositions, which are the cumulative effect of past births. Our entire pattern of thinking and the decisions we make, depend upon our samskaras. Therefore, depending upon their own samskaras, different people decide differently in a similar situation.

Past Life

Forgetting one’s previous birth upon taking the next appears to be a law of nature (though a law that apparently has exceptions).

Srimad-Bhagavatam, a Vedic scripture, says that by the trauma of birth a child forgets his previous life.
In the Srimad Bhagavatam there are instances where devotees have remembered their past lives. Like Jada Bharata could remember his past life as a deer and King Bharata. He could even remember his previous life when he was in the body of a deer.

"Energy can neither be created nor can be destroyed it can be just transformed from one form to another" and even today’s scientist believe in the presence of souls and they call it some form of energy.

What happens to a soul after it leaves the mortal body
? A simple explanation would be to say that there is no soul and the body is a mere organism that lives for a prescribed period of time and then perishes. That is the end and there is no more.

However, if one agrees with all religions of the world that claim that the soul is eternal and is released from the body after death, then one can examine the different theories proposed by the different religions about the afterlife.

The laws of karma and rebirth are easier to accept scientifically, if one has an open mind.

If soul is considered as a form of energy, it cannot be destroyed when the body ceases to function. Energy is neither created nor destroyed but only transformed. One form of energy changes to another. Karma helps to imprint a code on the soul, similar to the genetic code on the genes.

When the body dies and the soul (energy) is released, it carries the acquired chemical code with it. As the unseen soul rises upwards, the number of positive or negative charges that are on its map determines its future course. A soul heavy with negative charge (bad karma) drifts down to the earth to be recycled (and reborn). The soul full of positive charge (good karma) ascends into the cosmos to be eternally released. Is this nirvana or moksha?

Hindu sages, at the dawn of civilization, thought of this remarkable possibility of rebirth of the soul and explained it in the Upanishads.

Is the Eastern religious belief of reincarnation more scientifically feasible? Can the soul carry the 'memory' of its deeds with it when released from the body just like the brain carries the memory of our experiences and learning?

These are profound questions but may one day be scientifically proven and accepted. The chances of such proof are more likely with the Hindu theory of rebirth and recycling of energy.

Children who remember past lives

There have been many cases of children from the age when they can first talk saying that they can remember another life.

They talk about another house, other parents and families and about how they died. Sometimes they become so unhappy that their parents arrange for them to go to the place where they say they lived before. In many cases they are able to identify their previous relatives. Usually the memories start to fade by the time the child is 6 or 7.

The Shanti Devi Case

At the age of four in 1930 in Delhi, India, Shanti Devi began to mention certain details about clothes, food, people, incidents, places which surprised her parents. She mentioned the following which were later verified to be true

Any number of Arguments to prove the theory of Soul, Rebirth etc or against it is not going to end as long as Humans exist.

Are only Hindus re-born?

If every birth of a person is a rebirth in turn, which is the absolute first birth? How does rebirth account for the population of the world?

Even plants and animals are reborn.

So why should there be a first birth. Our views are limited by time and hence the terms first and next.

Do you think souls are manufactured somewhere up in the high heavens to account for the population increase?

Sometimes we need to reword certain theories so that it becomes palatable to the consumer.

By using the word Rebirth it might so mystical and old school and everyone will start saying that its in nonsense etc.

If we observe..that nothing in this world remains the same...everything undergoes some transformation and we humans ourselves change our cells(cellular turn over) several times in our life span..by cell shedding and cell regeneration like how a snake sheds its skin through out its life span.

So same way with the body..when anything breaksdown as in death...it does not disappear..the form changes and breaks down into the micro components till it get back into the 5 elements.

Even this process of decomposition needs energy.

Now so why can't the "energy" after death lie dormant for a while and then start to move at a different frequency as the form a new form roping in atoms that are already present in the Cosmos...then is lodged in a reproductive organ eg uterus or egg for growth and takes genetic inputs/material from parents to form the gross body.

So this can be considered Rebirth and if anyone want to throw in the Karma theory it is fine too cos Karma is energy and we need energy to preform action and even inaction.

Belief in rebirth

I am naming this as “belief in rebirth’ as it is based on certain evidences.

Sometime it so happens when we meet someone for the first time we feel as if we knew that person for a long time! ; same is the case with some new places you never visited; you visit a new place but get the feeling that you’ve been there before — most of us have had such experiences sometime or other.

This is possibly due to we are re-encountering people and places we have known in our past lives. We unconsciously carry forward experiences, attitudes, and relationships from previous lives into our current lifetime. This is because that we are eternal souls and carry forward learning and experiences from one human lifetime to another.
That how certain people are born genius, musicians, teachers, etc
Real Cases

Here is a case from Bhopal in India where Dr Swarnlata Tiwari, principal of a GovernmentArts & CommerceCollege from Bhopal, popularly known as NaveenCollege, is a unique case of rebirth. Her case is one of the seven cases in the world over, which scientists have been doing research on the theory of human rebirth. Dr. Swarnlata's case is a unique case in the sense that she not only remembers her immediate previous birth but also of the previous to previous birth.

In an interview Dr. Swarnlata Tiwari narrated interesting events and memories of her three births. The first at Katni in Madhya Pradesh when she was born in a Pathak family, the second in a Goswami family of Silhat (Assam) which is presently in Pakistan. And now presently she was born in village Shahpur of Tikamgarh district.

Wife of an IAS officer, Dr. Tiwari, 59 at present, has two sons. She has been leading a happily peaceful life with her present family at the same time keeping touch with her previous birth relatives of Katni.

She said past memories flashed back to her when she was passing through a river near Katni at the age of about 4 years. She narrated her past life's incidents to her parents who did not believe all that and ultimately saw a doctor of her mental check up. It was here that the doctor declared her fit saying "she is recalling her previous birth memories."

At the height of all that she was again re-born when she suddenly started singing Assamese songs at the age of 5. This was her previous to the immediate birth. In this life she had died in a road accident in Silhat at the age of 8.

When her case flashed in newspapers, her previous birth brother came to her house that she immediately recognized as "Babu". He confirmed that she was his sister as she narrated such incidents, which only he and she knew. In that birth her husband was a Tehsildar from whom she had three children. She had then died of heart failure at the age of 39.

Her story may seem interesting and amazing to listeners but not to her as she is now used to it and feels quite "normal".

Strange Facts about Dr. Swarnlata

1. Born on
March 2, 1948

2. She scared her parents by claiming that her name was Biya Pathak and lived in katni in past.

3. Biya Pathak died in 1939

4. was reborn as Kamlesh in 1940 at Sylhet in
Assam and died in 1947, a very short life.

5. Then, in 1948, Kamlesh was reborn as Swarnlata Mishra at village Shahpur in Tikamgarh district of Madhya Pradesh.

6. Remembers all the three births and that every time she was born as a girl child and in all the births in a Brahmin family.

7. Her story of rebirth was investigated by a noted Virginia University Professor Dr. Ian Stevenson when he visited
India in 1997 and he found her case as "authentically correct" after intensive confirmation of tales told by Swarnlata.

8. At present she lives at
Bhopal. Her husband K.P.Tiwari is a senior IAS officer here and she herself is a botanist and presently posted at Bhopal as the Principal of a Government Arts and CommerceCollege.

9. She has two sons.

Then here is another case of Taranjit, aged 12 from
Chandigarh city from northern India who remembered his past life at the age of 2 & claimed that in his earlier birth he was Satnam & died in a scooter accident. He not only identified & met his earlier life parents but recently went to the marriage of his earlier life sister too & blessed her on her marriage.

One may dismiss all these evidences and many more as cooked up stories etc.

That is the reason, I gave the heading as “belief in Rebirth” as many have a belief in REBITH THEORY
