Strengthening the Make-in-India initiative, French car maker Renault is expected to make India a hub for its exports to South Asian and African countries. “We will start exporting Kwid to Saarc countries beginning from March and we also have plans to export the car manufactured in to the African countries also,” said Sumit Sawhney, the CEO and MD of Renault India.
The carmaker has recently launched its new model Kwid and is planning to launch new Duster in three variants — 4X2, 4X4 and Duster automated and manual transmission — during this year.

Mr Sawhney feels that the company’s sales could double this year due to boost expected to be given by Kwid and Duster. “We have sold over 54,000 units in 2015 and this year this figure could double,” he said, adding that the Kwid sales could touch 10,000 figure by the end of March,” he said, after inaugurating its new dealership here.
In attempt to strengthen its market presence, he said Renault has “embarked on an aggressive network expansion plan and we aim to increase the dealerships to 240 by end of 2016, covering 96 per cent of the market.”

That is what is truly make in India should mean.

Renault, a multi national company based in Amsterdam, nearing its fate of Bankruptcy was given a helping hand by Nissan in year 1999.

They planned their expansion in India in the year 2008(if my memory is correct).
In the year 2010, they opened their factory at Oragadam, Chennai.
.............Started releasing their versions from late 2013.
In 2014, It was said that the company has turned around the corner and functioning exceptionally well.

But in 2015, it is said that the company had found it difficult with Government in getting back around Rs 2500 crores of eligible refunds( VAT & other taxes paid already).

Now Government claims its stake in the glory of the success of a multinational which has a manufacturing unit in China also.
