My native is Thanjavur and had lived substantial term in chennai Life, then, chose me to stay put in bangalore since 1985 .
I am to state :
I have many Brahmin friends/relatives from all parts of Karnataka & those migtared to karnataka like coastal, North West and North East. To be very honest and frank, there is NO BRAHMIN BASHING OR HATRED at all in Karnataka. I have always felt this and I got the same opinion from my contacts also.
There is no history of Anti-Brahmin movement here at all even when the same happened in neighbouring states like Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. That effect could be felt in our state. . In fact Malleshwaram and Ulsoor area was created for this purpose only. Even today the area has significant Iyer/Iyengars population.
There are absolutely no community or groups or even political parties in Karnataka which spreads venom against Brahmins. .
There was never a history of hate speeches against Brahmins by any political parties, nobody says anything bad in any speech or election rallies too. There could be vey, very few exceptions, but nobody takes them seriously. We can see both politicians and people from all communities visiting various Brahmins Mathas like Sringeri,Sankara, Udupi, Mantralaya, Melukote etc. Nobody has any reservation. This is the level of acceptance and tolerance here. Also since reservation in KA is less than 50%, situation is a lot better here compared to few states which has reservation upto 60 or 70%. Here there is no such ecosystem where Brahmins are targeted. They are not targeted in schools/colleges/universities/offices etc. They are respected like any other individual or community.
I am extremely proud to say that no caste/community targets or abuses Brahmins and vice versa is also true. Brahmins also don't dominate here. Domination is no way good to the society, co-existence and mutual harmony is what is important and that can be found in Karnataka.
This is the reason, should be, why Kannada Brahmins never migrated out of state. Only few families migrated to TN after the downfall of Vijayanagara empire, but that was a completely different scenario. But the reverse can be felt very easily. Karnataka has a large presence of Tamil, Telugu, Konkani, Marathi Brahmins who had migrated in different timelines. Because of this, Karnataka has the highest Brahmins population in South India.
Here Brahmins also worked for larger good of society instead of creating hierarchies. Also they were rooted to the idea of Kannada, Kanandiga and Karnataka as much as to the idea of Bharata. This found acceptance from other Kannadigas too, as even they thought in the same way.
I cannot tell for the entire country, but definitely the situation of Brahmins in Karnataka is definitely good and I really thank all Kannadigas from bottom of my heart for this. Of course there are poor, middle class and rich people like in any other community, but there was no hatred which was targeted at them. Karnataka is blessed to have such people who know to live peacefully.
I have experienced that tamil brahmins are respected, at some quarters, more than local brahmins
And finally the most important point i must put up here is there is Anti God sentiments or slogans or expressions in any form at any time so far ; fact is in contrary.
