Sanatana Dharma - when did it start?

...If the forum is not making an issue of it to demand an apology from you and is still dealing with you, it shows the magnanimity of the members and not your righteousness or innocence.
Thank you. I know many members are very magnanimous, I quite appreciate that. Raju, all we have here is a difference of opinion, you think "bovine feces" is equal to an obscenity that must not be uttered in decent company. I don't hold that view. The word you object to, "feces" is not an obscenity, the s-word is. I don't think using the word feces is offensive. If you feel offended by it I request you to either avoid my posts, or take extra care not to get offended.

In this thread I have only subtly warned you again when you came with your 'inanity' posting(which appeared to me as an ominous foreboding) to be careful not to bring in your pet term Bovine F.... into this thread also.
Raju, you write as though there is no archive. In the other thread you made a false statement, a lie if you will, about me. I had to defend by taking my gloves off.

I had to repeat that "obnoxious" offending term only as a reference.
I am sure nobody was holding a gun at your head. You didn't even try to mask the word that is offensive to you.

That may be your experience. But we here would say that it is a rare occurrence among TB families here in India.
Perhaps you don't have much contact with SV institutions. I have spent countless days and nights in one of them. I am familiar with the kind of language that gets used, including the top acharya.

Cheers!

Dear Raju:

Sorry to come in here...

Our kids here in Houston don't use all "those words" at home, although we know they use it regularly outside!

My wife said, "My brother's kids in Bombay and sister's kids in Chennai use it to me and their parents, as though they mean nothing!"

I guess this is the practice in most cosmopolitan centers in India and elsewhere!

Cheers.

ps. On a serious note, what exactly is SanAtana Dharma in your mind, as practiced by a typical Brahmin or a Hindu today? Thanks.

Dear Mr. Yamaka,

I live here in a metro city in an upmarket locality. Even though kids speak in flawless westernised English (they have no such fluency in Tamil even though Tamil is their mother tongue) they do not use such cus words in their conversations either in private or with strangers. I think it has something to do with attitudes and I believe elders have a strong influence in this. Give me just ten minutes and a kid using such words, I can show you how he can be changed. I am unable to agree with you if you insist that these are adult behavior picked up due to peer influence and we cannot do any thing about them.

About Sanatana Dharma, already there is an interesting discussion going on. With my limited exposure to Sanskrit I just watch with interest whatever is going on and pick up whatever new info is available there. I would recommend to closely follow the line of conversation and you may get an answer to your question.

Cheers.
