Dear RR ji,

Vgane ji got it right but just that he feels the only male pilgrims are on the pilgrimage and there are no female pilgrims..he forgot that the object of worship here is Female!LOL

The bodies all look alike at a skeleton level.

Recently I was visiting a place called Kutna-Hara (CZ) where there is a church (oldest it seems in Central Europe). The church is decorated with skulls and bones of priests and others .

Here is a link to this Bone Church

Welcome to the Bone Church in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic

If one sees the human body as these bones contained in a skin bag with lot of icky fluids inside all of which are sickeningly smelly and sick then the pilgrimage would not make sense. Additionally if one is not too happy seeing the body as a bag of bones they can see magnified parts of a body and sense countless bacteria all over the body ... Yuck :-)

Sorry to put a damper on the imagination of potential pilgrims :-)

there is no yucky smell or oozy fluid in these churches. there are only dried bleached bones. ofcourse seeing a whole stack of skulls is not everyone's piece of cake..but then...

and here is little more details and more palatable pix of the same

Why a palakkad tambram beg unless it is for huge monetary gain and a place in the glossy mags and a shot at oscar?

All faiths claim theirs is unique, but only sanatana dharma lets other faiths co exist in relative peace and harmony.

the trouble comes only when each faith claims that it and it only, is the way to salvation. and all others are fakes or charlatans.

faiths also assume that one wants to reach salvation. what if one has no desire to reach that state and perfectly happy as the way things stand.

just check out this picture for instance. who is it you think? do you want to provide succour to this beggar?

Leave alone the bones and the smelly juices. They are inside the colorful and beautiful packing material. The very look of a human being is awkward. With unsteady bipedal locomotion on its just two legs-which makes it the most unsteady life form to move on earth. Slow and ambling one step at a time. A small push can send it tumbling into a fall like a cockroach lying on its back helpless and supine. Look at a horse. It trots or walks on four muscular well shaped legs majestically with no two hands protruding, hanging or dangling on the sides all firmly on the ground. It trots or gallops majestically and beautifully. It can stand on its legs and enjoy "the act" without even acting. And the human brain is placed precariously on top of the structure and thus exposed to danger all the while. Even a centipede moved on earth more beautifully at times giving me an impression of a magical wavy well cordinated movement of its body. The human eyes are with limited vision-limited because the resolving power is limited, the wavelength in which it can see is limited, it can not see what is happening at the back and needs the help of the neck or the body to turn around which is slow. With all these deficiencies and awkwardness in the very structure we call ourselves the most lucky and blessed life on earth. If we ask a horse or a centipede it may laugh and say something which will make us go and hang ourselves.

But "pilgrims" do not look at things with this orientation. It will be this: As a pilgrim I go mad every time I see the object of my pilgrimage, a beautiful, young and sweet chiseled something. I am hopelessly lost in the seductively chiseled curves and intoxicating looks and a thousand other nay countless other small things about it. Yeah, people say it is all pheromones. Thanks to pheromones, I remain a pilgrim for ever.
