Situation and solutions for Brahmins of some sub sects

I wanted to bring to your attention an important issue concerning certain sub-sects of Brahmins. It has come to notice that some individuals, unaware of their Brahmin heritage or Vaidika practices, have inadvertently entered into inter-pravara marriages. While pravara-matched marriages are akin to sagotra unions, it seems that Vaidika Brahmins did not adequately inform Niyogi Brahmins, particularly in regions like the Andhra-Odisha border, about the implications of such alliances.

This oversight could have serious consequences for the preservation of dynasties and traditions. However, since these marriages were conducted unknowingly, should they be regarded as mistakes? If so, how should the associated karmic or dharmic concerns be addressed?

One potential solution could be seeking the guidance and blessings of revered figures such as Sringeri Jagadguru. According to the Parashara Smriti, the Jagadguru’s forgiveness could absolve these actions as they have occurred unfortunately and unknowingly.

I would appreciate any suggestions or alternative approaches to address this sensitive matter effectively. Additionally, if anyone has experience or insights on how to reach out to the Jagadguru or similar spiritual authorities, your guidance would be invaluable.

It is crucial that we handle this matter promptly to prevent any further challenges in the future.

I agree that this is important. But Tamil Brahmins are marrying intercaste in large numbers. This is leading to the death & destruction of the community. I spoke to a Delhi based Vadhyar & he mentioned that 90% of the Tamil Brahmin marriages are inter caste. This is an alarming number.

Over centuries there has been lot of mixups. There are no verification schemes to check authenticity of gotra etc. Sometimes a few have taken the gotra of who they consider as guru. Let us hope the wedding couple are happy. There is NO papam or punyam.

The Brahmin caste is not same as Brahmin varna which is not birth based. But the Brahmin caste based on birth used to live up to the ideals of Brahmin varna as described in Gita. But that is changing. Most are business minded. ALL ARE Vaishyas NOW!

The current TB as we know will vanish. It is just a matter of numbers. The number of children per family is not enough to sustain the cultural traditions. One needs at least 2.2 children per family in average to sustain a grouping

Plus in the last decade I have attended one wedding wherein both bride and groom are TB caste. This is another reason for likely extinction of TB as we know it

Young people of TB family are trying to ape the west. Hinduism as a whole and so called Brahmin caste is deeply immersed in superstitions and are clueless about the real teaching scriptures.

Whatever is said to be followed are all corrupted. It is no wonder the community is dwindling.

Greatness of Hinduism is its universal teachings. The philosophy, foundation of religious practices ( not the way they are practiced today ) and science are in unison. This cannot be said about any other civilization. But we have forgotten all that

The caste division is a curse

Rather than worry about gotra and pravara etc let us focus on learning authentic scriptures, raise questions and live the teachings

Hi all, huge thanks for the responses. The numbers seems to be really critical and worries about the future. If someone starts leaving acharas nothing will be left and this should atleast be addressed I believe. Me being a little drop of fortune orthodox brahmin living a little life, but shaken up by the numbers and avidya of people. I believe true brahmins are the backbone of Hinduism but some people with little knowledge and just for money sake or to reduce competition in vaidika misguided and allowed them to perform these inter pravara marriages.

Now many people realized what they have lost and reached me to help. I am also not sure how can we sort this inadvertent act. Atleast for those who realized and want to come back. We should definitely spread a red carpet when our own people are walking away.
