Tale of baby Krishna told through a working model
Kamsa, a very wicked king, ruled over Mathura, a kingdom overlooking the Yamuna River.
Kamsa arranged for his sister Devaki's marriage with young and handsome man called Vasudev. After the marriage, they were about to leave. Khamsa got the message that he was doomed to die in the hands of their child. So Kamsa secretly threw them into prison. Their 7 daughters were thrown to the ground and killed immediately after their birth. On the eighth day of the waning moon in August, Krishna was born to Devaki. Immediately a voice from heaven asked Vasudev to take the baby away, far across the Yamuna River to the village of Gokul where his sister lived, to exchange him for his sister's newborn daughter, and return before dawn.
Vasudev wrapped the newborn Krishna tightly in some rags, and left the cell without any problem as he found the cell doors open, and the guards fast asleep. Vasudev finally came to the banks of the Yamuna River. He had to encounter the huge waves and cross the river to reach Gokul and save his child. Vasudev put Krishna in a basket, and holding on to it firmly in his arm, waded through the threatening river. What Vasudev didn't understand at that time was that the river was rising because it wished to touch the god Krishna's feet. The moment the rising Yamuna river touched Krishna's feet, it receded and parted, making way for Vasudev. (As they crossed the river, the water closed behind them. Vasudev quickly exchanged his son for his newborn niece, and returned to his cell before dawn).
This video brings out how this tale has been brought to life through Science.
The brass doll shows Krishna being carried by Vasudev. When the water level in the Yamuna river is upto certain level, there is no problem (The water level remains as it is and water does not drain out even though there is a big hole at the bottom of the doll). When the water level raises and touches the feet of Krishna, River Yamuna is happy and drains out completely for the free movement of Vasudev with Krishna to reach Gokul, on the other side of the river.
