Ford Foundation is an arm of the US government. It is the USA which is indirectly running this country, India. Activists of congress and BJP may also be receiving funds through this very channel but the details will be difficult to discover.

Who knows, Modi nomination itself might have been decided by US! ;)
 
The Ford Foundation works to reduce poverty and injustice, strengthen democracy, promote international cooperation and advance human achievement by funding projects that build knowledge and strengthen organisations and networks. Grants must be for charitable, educational or scientific activities, be inline with one of the foundation’s programmes (currently there are three), and likely to have a wide effect. Grants are not normally given for routine operating/maintenance costs, construction of buildings, or religious activities.

I do not see the boogie man in every closet. Most of these NGO even from America are not agents of Government of USA. These organizations do a lot of good work throughout the world. For instance Gates foundation fighting to eradicate diseases, or Clinton initiative trying to cheap drugs for impoverished African nations. If you only want to find fault with legitimate organizations, you can come up with any number of conspiracy theories. Red cross or Doctors without borders are great organizations and do charitable work in places people have neglected. There is greater good than bad. In life we can not have 100% good (for who) organizations only. There is mix but majority of organizations are gooding great good around the world.

CIA does run clandestine organization worldwide, and so does some other countries.

The Foreign Contribution Act has been criticized internationally for restricting the right of nongovernmental organizations to freely seek and receive financial and other resources for their management and activities.
UN special rapporteur on human rights defenders, Margaret Sekaggya, visited India in 2011, and expressed concerns that the act could lead to abuse by the authorities when reviewing applications of groups critical of the government. Sekaggyarecommended that the National Human Rights Commission “monitor the denial of registration and permission to receive foreign funding for NGOs,” with a view to amending or repealing the law.


India is setting a bad precedent in the region because several other countries are contemplating laws similar to India’s to restrict advocacy groups, Human Rights Watch said. It called on the Indian authorities to investigate all denials, delays and cancellation of Foreign Contribution Act requests, and to reverse all decisions that are arbitrary, illegitimate, or influenced by political interests.

Just because there are some bad apples, you should not destroy the whole orchard.
 
Mr. Sangom seems to have the secret inside information that Ford foundation is US government, I have feeling that Mr. Sangom was informed by Mr. Henry Ford personally. I could not find any link of that nexus.

Of course, when Shri Prasad says Ford Foundation is not acting as a "chamchaa" of the US government, we have to believe it compulsorily, because the US government has appointed Prasad writes as another chamchaa specially for this Forum! LOL

Payer calls the tune and US is a demanding payer. List of beneficiaries of ford's largesse and their activities is separate issue. Last year, the govt wanted to investigate foreign fund inflow to indian ngos during kudankulam stir; but as usual the investigation is under the carpet now. Anyway our govt does not know who received what and how it was spent. There are many reports linking ford foundation to cii. At least the indian beneficiaries are not 'india first' believers.

USA is not a friend; it is trader with predominant self interest.

Last month brazilian president cancelld a 4.5 billion dollar boeing fighter aircraft purchase and went to switzerland; the main reason was the snowden expose of us spying even friendly countries and friendly presidents.
