[h=1]Subramanian Swamy for CBI report on Chidambaram's role in Aircel-Maxis case[/h]NEW DELHI: BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday requested the Supreme Court to seek a status report from the CBI of its probe into the alleged role of former finance minister P Chidambaram in the grant of FIPB clearance to the Aicel-Maxis deal.
Swamy told a bench of Chief Justice H L Dattu and Justice S A Bobde, "In the chargesheet, which the CBI has filed in Aircel-Maxis case, there are some lines which raise a suspicion on the role of Chidambaram in granting Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) clearance. I have not heard anything about the progress made in the case."
The bench said, "(Senior advocate K K) Venugopal (who appears for CBI) has taken note of what you have said. He will take appropriate instruction about it on the next date."
