Dear Renu

Forget all those "struggles in life", "journeys of the soul", "love triangle" themes - too repetitive, drab.

Ok, for kickstart:

Starts with the author [ let' assume TVK ] browsing through the news paper,[ Sunday 04/11/2102 ] when his eyes fall on
an insertion in the re-marriage section.

It read:

" Wanted suitable groom for 30 yr old slim, tall, good looking well educated, good income divorcee, no issues. Court
Order [ divorce by mutual consent ] expected IIIrd week December 2012.

Open to negotiation immediately with broad-minded, well educated, financially well placed divorcee / widower without
issues, age not over 35 yrs, preferably with a PR or Green Card. Parents and siblings welcome to visit after marriage.
Tentative wedding - III week Jan 2013. Parents / Siblings / Brokers / Match-makers / Astrologers, please excuse.
Interested men, please contact Ms XXXX Cell # YYYYYYYY / or FB ZZZZZZ to fix up a meeting in person at a mutually
agreed place in Bangalore / Hyderabad / Chennai and be prepared to travel to & fro at your cost . Weekend
meetings preferable in Chennai / Hyderabad - later evening meetings in Bangalore OK ".

The author [ assuming it's TVK ], a brilliant Engineer himself had spent a lifetime understanding complicated
technical blue-prints and specification sheets. He read the ad twice, thrice and a fourth time and was just
beginning to digest things, when Mami called out " Yenna Naa, Coffee Aariye Pochu. Appadi Yenna thaaan
padichindu irukkale ? Kalam Karthala, ungal face yen tension aaga irukku ? Indh paper karaalukku vere velaiye
illiai. Yepoo parthalum, scam, rape, murder, theft accidentnu ezhidhinde iruppa.
Neenga seekkirama kulichittu, ready aayidungo. Muhurthathukku kandippa poganum" .

Mama [ let's drop TVK, it's getting too personal] " Illai di.......Vandhu ........ Oh Ho...... sarisari "

Mama's mind was still on the paper ad. He was making a mental check list of the spec sheet.

1 . Girl not yet divorced - Court Order expected in 3rd week Dec 2012
2 . Today is Sunday 4th November 2012, and she is "open to negotiation' with a prospective groom.
3 . Parents & Siblings 'welcome to visit ' - meant clearly that they couldn't stay.
4 . Girl must be based in Bangalore - that's why 'late evening' meetings are ok with her.
5 . Girl had fixed the 'tentative date' for marriage as 3rd week Jan 2013.
6 . Cut-off age for groom - 35 yrs.

The spec sheet didn't specify whether it was going to be her second / third wedding. But he had formed an impression
that the girl must be a very self-willed, self-centered person in the 20-25 lakhs CTC.

Somehow, the paper ad kept bugging him. With a preoccupied mind, he got into the car with Mami, who for some
reason seemed excessively talkative today. He wished that she would just shut-up and let him concentrate on his
driving. Mama was an excellent motorist - having driven vehicles in several countries - perfectly comfortable with LHD / RHD cars - Keep Left / Keep Right. He had been posted in Europe, Iraq, The Gulf and Afghanistan as a Site Engineer
and had tried his had at forklifts, cranes, dozers, shovels and other earth-moving equipment. In fact there didn't seem
to be any contraption with wheels that he couldn't drive.

But today, he was lost! He considered Mami a hopeless navigator and sometimes even wondered whether she could differentiate between a left turn and right turn. 'U' turns were disasters.

Mami got the gut feeling that they had been driving for too long and fished out the wedding invitation to check the
muhurtham time - but as usual, she had forgotten her reading glasses. That didn't bother Mama - he was convinced that
she would never know whether they were headed North or South.

They had been married for close to fifty years and had got used to each-other's idiosyncrasies - he loved her, her stupidities, her clumsiness, her ignorance, her innocence - just about everything about her.

I thought the story ENDED already..!!

TVK

No, no, no Renu - you don't have to 'begin' all over again, already kickstarted - music we'll leave it for Brahin .

Take the cue forward from here - Flashback story - how Mama & Mami had spent time in Ireland
with Michael & Susan [ he was a South African, she and Australian - married and living in Ireland] ,
Riaz & Lubna, a Pakistani couple, with kids Abrar & Ayesha, while living in Iraq. Ngombo & Uruza a
Sudanese couple who thought Mama & Mami were freaks, because they ate only ' grass ' [ veg food].

You can be descriptive on how Mama admired Mami, the only lady in a graceful saree in the
cathedral when they attended the Mike-Su wedding and more so for not blushing, when he kissed
the bride - with permission, and that too in public.

Then you can dwell on how Mami held her poise, when Benny Woo & Li Chew [ Benny was from HK and she,
Li, was from mainland China ] would engage in discussions on Budhism. Beyond a few facts like Gautama Budha's
birth in Kapilavastu, and attaining enlightenment in Gaya, under the Bodhi tree, Mama knew little else and would
have been lost. Somehow Mami held her own and seemed like 'knowledge personified' (!)

Oh! He loved her - every aspect of her - he remembered how Benny & Li were looking on wonder-struck
when Mami gave their little daughter [infant, then ] Gu an oil bath - with tender, motherly dexterousness.

Now, " Over to TB Folks "

Yay yem

Oh ho Renu,

How am I supposed to answer that ? We are all collectively supposed to build the characters, situations and the circumstances - Mike & Su, Benny & Li, Riaz & Lubna, Ngombo & Uruza - maybe we can include a Mark & Kate
from the US as well.

We looking at South Africa, Ireland, Australia, Iraq, Pakistan, Sudan and Afghanistan - starting from
Mannachanallur [ Mama's place ] and Vaikalathoor, something like 50 years ago.

No, I wont answer that question - a Marriage full of Love yes. We will 'rewind' to that stage - his place
was Mannachanallur [upstream Kaveri] river and her place Vaikalathoor [downstream Kaveri]- no, now please
don't put in those 'love letters' on folded paper boats - it'll become any one of those millions of Youtube postings!

Get a move on - since your are in Malaysia, maybe you can go into the Far eastern couple - Benny & Li.
Maybe Ravi will do well with Riaz & Lubna

Dear Yay Yem,

Man your imagination is running riot, and is covering the whole world.... With every additional input you are putting Dr.Renukaji to more problem... where and how to start, even though u have started!! With the guide vividly explaing every character IMO you better carry on detailing out the story and may be TB will start another one with DR taking the lead...
BTW i have already sent my imagination horse for grazing the greener pastures and when it returns, hopefully Dr.Renukaji would have started the stody and we can join in rip roaring comedy " Avvaiyaar in Afganistan"!! Cheers

Dear AM Ji,

I am utterly confused!
Where to begin yaar..so many characters.

It is raining like hell outside here with thunder and lightning and my brains don't seem to be working much today.

Seeing patients and trying to make time to do my of Geeta Shloka अन्वयः / अन्वयरचना and I am wondering if the story is getting a bit too complex!LOL

Can you start off the 1st few lines and then we all can take off where you started.

When Renuka aburptly realised that the rain has not yet stopped but has gained momentum." Why is it raining so much today?" she muttered to herself. Her thoughts raced to the school as her son not yet returned from the school. " he must have taken the bus and will drop oin any moment" she continued muttering and srtarted to clean the table of the books and references she was using for her geeta Shloka.
" this has to be completed by this week end", thinking to herself she tried to log off from the TB forum when a new post dropped in from Yay Yem.
"Oh No! not again. Why did i offer to write a story" Renuka Cried out aloud. " and look he is brefing me of the story i have to write.... no no this is not done this way!!" .Just then her mobile chimed and a call from the clinic. She attended the call and tore her mind from the Clinic and tried to concentrate on the task at hand..

" How to start?...Shall i start with a flash Back of the time spent by Mama at the village and then, come back to the current situation?" her thoughts started to to run and fast and the stroy line and conversations started to build up and with a resolution Renuka sat once again in front of her computer and started to type.....

(DR.Renukaji , how is this for a start?.....) Cheers....

Some how Renuka is having some mind block..she is still having Obama Euphoria!LOL

She keeps reminding herself "Sukha Dukhe Same Krtva" and tells herself "Hey why are you getting so excited about Obama winning the elections now?"

But still the Euphoria continues...the rain has stopped now.
Son came back from school long back..Renuka's mum drives him to school.

Then Renuka's thoughts went back to her school days..her mum driving her to school(she was scared of her mum's driving..she can drive fast!)

Well then her thoughts went back to her Kindergarten days where she walked out of class on day 3 of study(This is true BTW..I found Kindergarten too boring and walked out of class and walked home..teacher could not stop me cos I refused to come back in class)

Hey what is this??

This is supposed to be some story about some Mama and Mami and why is Renuka talking about herself!

It was Manoharkumar ji that started all the confusion!LOL

Let's begin about Mama and Mami.

Mama was a real ambi types who was a nice, shy guy.

He used to have a crush on the girl that lived next door but he never had the courage to tell her his feelings.

Each time she walked by..his heart used to flutter at about 120 beats per min.

"How can I tell Vasanthi that I like her?"...thoughts raced through Raju's mind.

"How can I tell her?"

Raju and Vasanthi studied in near by colleges.

He would see her walk back home and he would ride his bicycle home from college.

Vasanthi was a shy and reserved girl who sometimes used to give side glances nervously to see if anyone was following her.

Then one day....

To be continued..

Note:I have started some story..so others please join it also cos you guys know TB culture better than me..so I might need help to construct this love story.

Over to Manoharji/AM Ji and everyone else.

Dear Yem Kay

She didn't offer to co-write TVK's story - you, me, we are all in it. Otherwise TVK will escape. We have to
make a special request to Tmt RR to catch him. Yes Yem Kay , we can start with the rain.

The rains had stopped - cyclone Nilam had passed. Power supply was restored - Mama wondered where she had
found [ kept hidden all these years ] the single wick [wall mounted] kerosene lamp! He didn't remember buying
kerosene past 40 odd years. Yet she had fished it out like stage magicians pulling out pigeons from empty hats.
That night, without electricity was fun for him - no TV, cellphone network precarious and there she came in
with the lit kerosene lamp - her face glowing as it used to 50 years ago. Those days, he would let fly songs of
K.L.Saigal / Pankaj Mullick [ with cooked-up lyrics ] and get away - why he even got applause.

Today, Mama didn't notice the damaged roads that he was driving on - he just drove and Mami just continued talking,
but his mind kept going back to the paper ad - the spec sheet, the terms & conditions.

.............................

HELP !

Renu

The characters Raju & Vasanthi - do you want to fit them into Avvaiyar in Afghanistan ?
Ok, I am sure the necessary circumstance will be contributed by someone.

I'd rather wait before starting afresh a " Kalaingar in Kazhakstan " or a " Sonia in Serbia "

Oh, wait - you were supposed to build up Benny & Li [and their daughter Gu] - their discussions
and debates with Mami on Budhism.

Yay Yem

Times had changed so much...these days people were so specific and calculative.
Gone were the days where only love mattered and material did not.

Raju was not too happy actually even driving to see this girl.

He was confused "Why am I even here?"

But what to do..their only son Surya was a divorcee too.

Poor thing his marriage had failed less than 2 years when his wife decided to leave him for another person.

Raju thought that a divorcee would be a better choice for his son cos a divorcee would understand his son's heart better.

He lovingly glanced at Mami...she still had not changed.

All other woman at Mami's age would be some blue whale range by now but Vasanthi was still beautiful and slim.

She had a lovely dimpled smile and her face still shone like a Surya Koti Samaprabha.

That's the reason why Raju named his son Surya..cos he would think of his wife's face each time he saw his son.

Suddenly a cow crossed the road..and Mama applied emergency brakes.

Mami was screaming "Ishwara..help..I don't want to commit Go Hatya..Please save the cow"

Mama managed to swerve the car and avoided hitting the cow.

Then Mama said "Aiyoo is this a bad omen? Do you think we should still go see the girl"

Mami was "What??even after so many years of living abroad you still believe in Omen"

Mama.."Hey..who was the one was screaming Go Hatya? Me or you?"

Mami looks at Mama shyly and smiles.

Mama felt weak at his knees..that's the smile that had captivated him.

Mami was an expert at smiling her way to get out of any situation.

"I need to cut down onions and garlic in my diet...at this age why am I still feeling my heart flutter when she smiles at me"...Raju thought to himself.

Dear AM ji,

We will try to see how story goes and keep it in view..

Dear Renu

But Benny & Li - you can't ditch them !

Mama met Michael for the first time in Dublin, when Mike, just out of the airport had asked him for directions to the
Railway Station. Mama himself had been there for just three days in a " Bed-n-Breakfast " single room. Foreign exchange, those days very limited and the Euro was not yet a currency. He was to take the next morning train to Cork and offered Mike to help him find a " Bed-n-Breakfast " room for a night close to the Railway Station. They got on to the same train bound for Cork - Mike got off a Limerick. Mike, who was about Mama's age then, was going to the University of Limerick where he was to present a paper. Though Mike didn't say it in so many words, Mama understood that the hot topic of
the day was ' apartheid ' and that there was something ' classified ' about Mike being there.

Mama himself was there because of what may called ' deliberately falsified ' / ' not yet de-classified ' mission. He was
part of the team investigating the bombing of Kanishka [ Air India's Montreal-Delhi flight]. Mike and mama parted ways on the platform of Limerick station.

They met again three days later, this time in Cork, when Mike accompanied a Police team. They greeted each-other
with a " I Knew you bullshitted " smile. That was in 1985. Their lives crisscrossed several times. Both of them knew that the other was bullshitting - but that was their job. They worked for their respective Governments and knew exactly
where to draw the line.

It was in 1993 when they met in Geneva - Mike had quit after ANC had come to power and mama had been elevated
several rungs in the hierarchy. So, in a bar, and after some rounds of scotch, when Mama told him to come straight, Mike confessed this ' thing ' about an Australian woman - Susan.

Mama immediately called home - cell phones then were new and the size of dumbbells in a Men's gym - to tell Mami
that he was bringing a 'friend' home - Mami's immediate response was " Andha Police karana ? " Yeppo kalyanamam ?"
Somehow, she knew !

They hit of very well - Mike and Mami. What a combination ! a White Policeman, trained to break up mobs and beat up colored people and a TamBram Lady, from an obscure Agraharam near Nagapattinam, who had spent most
of her girlhood days, playing, washing, bathing etc on the banks of Kaveri - with not a care in the world.
This tough, rugged, muscular, rustic ex-cop now needed our Mami - he just didn't want Susan to say 'NO'.

Next - Mami takes the Eurail to Frankfurt to meet Susan.

Folks - I need HELP .

Sri. Anand Manohar, Greetings.

I think this story is way out of my depth. Mama worked as site-engineer worked all around the world; mami brought up in one of the western countries; mama & mami socialising at the international level; the divorced girl in question is a high-flyer in Bangalore..... Just way out of depth for this village born, simple minded lad. I can't think in any of the character's shoes; all those shoes appear just way too big for me. I think I should only enjoy reading the story!

Cheers!

This tough, rugged, muscular, rustic ex-cop now needed our Mami - he just didn't want Susan to say 'NO'.

Next - Mami takes the Eurail to Frankfurt to meet Susan.

Folks - I need HELP .

Dear AM ji,

I am having my lunch and reading your post...story is nice but you know I don't have overseas exposure cos the only other country I have been too in my life is India.

I find it a bit hard to relate with a western set up story.

You know even that Chinese Benny and Li..I hardly have friends to start with and I don't really even know much about Chinese lifestyle(all I know they value money very much and are hardworking)...I need time to think of some story..it's kind of getting very complex.

Dear Yay Yem,

Boss i have go along with Mr.Raghy sir & Renukaji. Your expressions are good, your flow is good, and your thought process combining the entire world and various races on to a story line is too good to be torn apart by people like us who have not seen beyond the shores of kanniyakumari & marina.... Please do continue the story as your thought process is on track and just need to get a momentum...Bystand cheerers like me are ready to cheer you Up....( nothing to marginalise Dr.Renukaji's attempt, that can also go on another track.. she just started to open up.. cheers Maam!!)

Cheers.

Dear Raghy Ji

No, I don't think it's ' way out ' for you - start with Mark & Kate [ maybe kids Finn & Colin ] ,
we can make them meet up Mama & Mami and gel with them - maybe in Jakarta / Manila.

Give it a shot - Maybe I can send you some inspiration ' TASMACPATHICALLY ' with some BL down,
to supplement the JD.

No Yem Kay - I think you are trying to escape - " Copy & Paste " Mama & Mami in Delhi - I am sure
you can start with Mama looking at the drawings of the Taj Expressway.

Come on, Ravi, Amritha, Amala, HRHK, Haridoss, Guruvayoor Swamy, Prasad Ji - HELP

Dear AM ji,

Will help soon.

You know each time I type in this thread..Gangnam Style Song starts to play.
When I stop typing the songs stops.

So hard to type cos that songs plays non stop!

Dear Renu

Good. Then maybe you can ditch Benny & Li and take Psi & Kim as your characters -
Just let the imagination go - Mami [ with her classical Bharatanatyam training as a girl ]
meeting Psi, before he became a celebrity, and how she thought that he had the 'potential'.
How she found that he was naturally endowed with the grace and rhythm of a dancer.
And how she found the name 'Gangnam' so similar to 'Ganga' - both being important rivers ! Maybe
you can super-impose how Mami taught the basic steps and abhinayam to Psi when he was a little
boy, in Jakarta ............

Just go ............. guppa,............. guppa .................. guppa......................... .
[ that's how stories are made ]
