Money is not made by thinking about it.

Money goes to those who enable others to make money for them utilising their brain and paying them for their efforts.

One must learn to give first generously to collect later if required.

Money not collected later is charity. Money later collected is our own to be enjoyed in full.

How about this for life philosophy?

Why all talks about money?

Even the man with begging bowl at streets of Delhi make lot of money and it is reported that some of them are also payng tax.

Delhi is known for Allah ke naam pe dede baba” (Give in the name of God), “Do Din se bhukha hoon, kuch dedo” (Haven't eaten anything since the last two days, give me some money) !! lol

As a thought, If you nothing to do , you might as well make some money. Why not?

Money is just an enabling tool to get anything one wants in life.

When I joined my first job in govt sector in seventies , I was complaining to some colleague in office about lack of work. I had a lot of free time

He taught me how to trade in stock market.

those days , foreign companies were forced to dilute their holdings in india,.by indira gandhi leftist leaning govt

Companies like reliance were coming out with public issue at par value.I got some by applying in spare time

I still hold some of these worth a lot even after 40 years.

One has only to listen to people around and do what they say without arguments. you will gain a lot in life.

the basic issue for most is lack of trust in people around and fear of risk taking.

If one is care free and simply operate without breaking rules set by govt , one can do very well .

Why start shouting morality anytime anyone gets prosperous using his initiative?

Suddenly morality issues are thrown at them. a typical brahmin trait.Lol

Typical Brahmins are well aware of traits hence they identify as such, when some one points out the truth. When some one makes pointless and meaning less noice, it becomes just and necessary to reply.lol

a-TB Ji,

Thread opener states that
'one of them recently celebrated his sathabishekam attended by all relatives including yours very truly. it was a grand affair

After a very undisturbed living cared for by parents ,siblings and later by working wife, his children are now supporting him .

Full credit to him , no bad habits -drinking ,smoking, no actions breaking the laws of the land. Only too incompetent and lazy to work

he is liked by all except those who supported him to live a lifetime.

coming to think of it ,sincere hard work hardly pays'. (Posting # 1)

It is his opinion that 'Sincere and hard work hardly pays.

I just reproduced an article (Posting # 11) wherein the 73 years old Senior citizen has more willingly taken up hard work and thus lead a peaceful life. There are many Senior citizens who still believe in hard work which definitely pays. :-)

I believe in hard work even after retirement. I keep busy and I am a senior citizen. God has blessed me with good health. I don't take normally any medicine. Lead a very happy and peaceful life by keeping busy from dawn to dusk.

Dear Mr Balasubramani:

Thanks for sharing your views and your status as a senior citizen.

Happiness is in the 'eye of the beholder'. Chasing anything, including money means one is not yet fulfilled (and the chased item is an ongoing need to feel fulfilled). One can be rich and still feel like a beggar with the feeling of 'I dont have enough'.

Glad to know you are enjoying a happy and peaceful life while being very busy!

This is the age of voluntary retirement - retire when the age is over 50!

Hence some senior citizen resorts (homes) have the minimum age for admission as 50!! :D

Thanks Mrs Raji Madam for the clarification.
Aging is a matter of time, same cannot be said about wisdom which often does not accompany age LoL

I know a friend's mother-in-law who is bed ridden, uncooperative , and purposefully messes the beds to drive helpers at home away.
My friend lives in USA, his wife goes to Chennai every year for some time to share the burden of care. This old woman, beginning to display dementia, is hated by daughter, son and daughter-in-law. I am sure no senior citizen 'resort' will take such a bed-ridden woman.

There is a saying, 'paNam pAdhALam varai pAyum'!

I heard about one Hospeace house, which admits bedridden patients for a payment of Rs. 10,000 per month for maintenance +

extra for their medicine. The inmate can't fight nonstop because the nurses won't stay in the room throughout the day! :)

It is too much of a generalization (at least by implication) to say that people who earn money by running their own business or investing in the stock market are not working hard. There are many honorable, ethical, and admirable ways to live an enriching life while accumulating wealth than suffering the drudgery of monotonous work in offices (stale jobs).

There is an increasing trend that most believe senior citizen are nuisances to put up with.

They do not realise how as children they were nuisance for parents and were not sent elsewhere.

Some of course ended up in boarding schools at a very young age , these are exceptions in india.

This segregation of senior citizen and pushing them of to senior homes is a very unhealthy trend.

this I consider an abuse.

Thank you, Raji Madam.

The main issue I understand is messing up the beds without asking for help.

I do not know how this other place you mentioned will address that.

The people involved do not want to put the old lady in a home.

Hospice is supposed to be for those ready to die shortly. Kindly share the name of the place anyway.

Thanks!
