The Core of Bhagavad Gita
Core of the Gita Teaching
The whole of Gita can be grouped under three heads.
Karma Yogam (chapters 1 to 6)
Bhatkti Yogam (chapters 7 to 12)
Jnana Yogam (chapters 13 to 18)
The Gita does not advise anyone to take to sanyasa for the simple reason that in most cases it turns out to only an escape from life. Instead Gita asks the householder to put in his best efforts in his work, whatever it is, without any sense of doer-ship, without hankering for expected results. This is karma yoga.
He must live his life never forgetting God at any moment. This is bhakti yoga.
If the householder has an inquiring mind, it is suggested that while he is living his life, diligently doing his daily work, without thinking of the expected results, with faith in God, he should turn his mind towards the inquiry into Truth – knowledge. This is jnana yoga
