The Pirate Bay is one truly indestructible site. It has survived server raids, ISP cut offs, legal troubles and much, much more, and is continually hatching plans to escape from the long hand of the law.
Towards the end of 2014, the Piratebay’s core Servers were raided yet again, but this time, it didn’t seem like it was coming back. Its founders were in custody, and it seemed that the Pirate Bay was closed, for good.
But then, the piratebay.se Domain went backup live, with a countdown timer, counting down to February 1, 2015. Everyone speculated that February 1 would see the return of the Piratebay. At the same time, many Sites started off alternate Pirate Bay Sites from the backups of the original Sites.
And now, it has finally lived up to its reputation as the most resilient Torrenting Site in the Universe, as it has come back online a few hours ago.
It is the Pirate Bay we know and love, with no data loss reports as of now. It is the same site, except for the new Logo, that of a Phoenix, which is a bird that is a symbol for eternal life.
The new Piratebay doesn’t have much of the old moderation team, and has a very light organization, making it easy to run, but also pissing off the other members of the original Team, who had been moderating the site for over a decade. They are looking to start a new Piratebay, with the moderation team intact.
In the midst of all this, there is also the question of whether The Pirate Bay will be able to regain the lost traffic to its site, most of which has gone to TPB Backup Sites, mainly the one hosted by ISOHunt. We have a feeling it will, as there’s no place quite like home.
What do you think? Will The Pirate Bay live on forever?
