There isn't notes to share.

I was thinking today..can we actually share notes?

Nope..we can't. We can only READ notes but not share.

There is a difference between reading and sharing.

Reading is gaining info.

Sharing is experiencing.

The notes of another might just "influence" us to become the clone of the original writer.

A true master does not want to make clones.

A true master asks you to understand his teachings..he does not even call it notes.

The moment something is noted down it is no more original becos when we note down we are allowed to correct the notes and it might not even be the same as our original thought.

Ever wondered by Vedas was passed by word of mouth and by hearing?

It cant really be becos men did not know how to read and write back then.It was becos early men wanted original thought to be passed down unadulterated by the pen.

The pen is mightier than the sword becos the sword only kills and case closed.

The pen is allowed to write..allowed to alter the subject and it kills in subtle ways.

So to know the Truth one has to drop the pen and surrender.

Stop taking notes..that will only make us become another person..a clone of another who wants to influence us.

Ever wondered why there is so much emphasis on Surrender?

I am not using the word Total Surrender becos if we grade Surrender than there should be even partial surrender and it does not make sense.

Total Surrender is an English word.

Sanskrit says Saranagati..It just means Surrender..the word Total is not there.

Now back to surrender..in Surrender there is no pen ..there are no notes.

When Arjuna surrendered to Krishna..he let his bow slip from his hand.

He did not hold his bow or hold a pen or even took down notes.

Krishna was not giving him notes..Krishna was not sharing notes.

Krishna said in the past He has spoken the same Geeta to the Sun God..but that was not recorded by pen..hence no Bhasya was written by men.

Then came other Yugas and everything got documented by the pen and Lo Behold even the Geeta became a subject of debate..it became a controversy.

Everyone wanted to be famous.

The easiest way to be famous is by stirring up a controversy.

Even in Forum the most controversial threads are the most active ones.

So now the question remains.."Does one learn by sharing notes"

No! Even after reading the best of teachers notes we still have to create our own experience in our mind.

A person who memorizes never truly understands..he just regurgitates.

So we have to decide..if we want to regurgitate or we want to actually know.

Dear Renuka,

A good teacher does not try to force ideas. He tries to develop the power of discernment in his students. More than direct preaching, this will be much more effective because the impact will be at a deeper level and the personal experiences can also be better understood.

Exactly!

This is true sharing.

Dear Sravna,

I as humans we need to "unlearn".

In my job many a times I see very depressed individuals who cry non stop in my room.

The traditional approach is to hear the patient out and then suggest a solution. But I feel that is actually not solving a problem..its only imposing my values and views on another person.

The other person should not become me..he/she should be herself/himself.

Some time ago I had an extremely depressed housewife who was clearly not able to handle motherhood and she had major mood swings and was in a depression.

She was crying non stop..pouring out her story. Then she asked me "What should I do Doc?"

I then asked her 'How do you want it to be?"

Then she stopped crying...she asked me 'Aren't you going to suggest me anything"

I told her 'I want you to suggest for yourself how you would like things to be..only you know yourself well enough"

Then she went on giving a few examples on how she wanted life to be.

Then I told her to work out on those lines and get back to me on its progress.

She is much better now.

Likewise..each person should be allowed to grow instead of just taking notes.

Some posting their notes in this forum instead of shredding them has caused so much agony ....

this is akin to littering.lol

This is the greatest statement ever!

One has realized that notes need to be shredded!

Renukaji,

Your post #1 for reference:

Some thoughts:

I was thinking today..can we actually share notes?
Nope..we can't. We can only READ notes but not share.
There is a difference between reading and sharing.
Reading is gaining info.
Sharing is experiencing.

At one level, you READ a note because someone has shared it with you. Experience can not be just subjective. If it is subjective, it will just remain the dream of a dumb illiterate person. As an experience, it just did not happen. At another level, language with all its infirmities and imperfections is still the medium through which experience is shared and for that one has to read what is written whether on a screen or on a paper or just in the sands of time.

The notes of another might just "influence" us to become the clone of the original writer.
A true master does not want to make clones.

What is written and presented by acharyas of the past and the present are only the “process description”. They are not the treasure that you want to find or you are searching for. So the process knowledge is always useful in cutting out the time and clutter. When you are the master of the situation refusing to be led by the nose, there is no need to fear being influenced. Understand the process of thinking as done and followed by great minds of the past and pick up one such process—there are many available to choose from—and go ahead with your experience seeking endeavor. If you find the process does not deliver, you have the freedom to discard it and choose another one. A true master only imparts knowledge on how to think and not on what to think about. There is nothing original about anything. Even the “experience” you are looking for is already the experience of someone else and to that extent is not original. You only rediscover it in you.

Ever wondered by Vedas was passed by word of mouth and by hearing?

Truth remains a truth always. It does not require any external light to be thrown on it to illuminate/delineate it and make it perceptible. Vedas are universal truth/knowledge. Depending on the position of the individual looking at that knowledge it may be meaningful or meaningless. Even for those for whom it is meaningful the meaning may vary with time-not because the truth is relative to time but because the observing individual’s knowledge and the way he perceives keeps changing with time. Today we can read Vedas only subject to the limitations of the language used and the level of knowledge of the individual reading it. So Renukaji, keep reading and there is nothing wrong about it. Because only after reading several times and from several “process description catologues” you may just get to enjoy a glimpse of the new experience.

So to know the Truth one has to drop the pen and surrender.
Stop taking notes..that will only make us become another person..a clone of another who wants to influence us.

The “surrender” by itself is a unique experience. It is the summum bonum of all “process literature” and yet very simple to adopt. It is like the all explaining, all covering and all inclusive but elusive string theory. But you can not wish away the fact that human beings who adopted that have recorded their “process knowledge” in graphic details. It again helps one to know it. Read Swami Desikan’s Anjali Vaibhavam which is one such record. It may help. I read it when I had no belief in God or religions. As an “instruction manual” for a certain “process” I found it immensely useful. It was a smarting rebellious mind of me that found it interesting.

………..
So now the question remains.."Does one learn by sharing notes"

Read an “instruction manual” and the “process literature” before going for the experience. It helps you avoid pitfalls, unpleasant surprises, accidents and grievous injuries.

Notes can indeed be shared. LOL.

it is bound to look different because it is from a different drishtikone. Don't rubbish it. Read and you may get to know how you can become critical of your own most pet beliefs. LOL.

I dont have a pet belief that I hold on too.I used to hold on a little to Advaita before but now even that I dont hold on too.

I want to be free from any sort of school of thought.I dont want to imprison my mind and be attached to anything and not let go.

I want to walk free and just read without getting involved in anything.

So my comments would be that its different but I wont adhere to any belief.

There is a little of Advaita or Dwaita in all of us which we can choose to enjoy and not adhere too.

1. I did not mean any ism when I wrote that piece of advice. It is just your belief. Any belief.

2. I consider even the statement that " I want to be free from any school of thought" is a statement of a position which has to come after a lot of "reading".

3. A free thinking individual at a certain stage of evolution can never adhere to this and that. That is a perfectly understandable position.

4. Keep walking. You may reach your destination. And then tell us. LOL.

How can speak a word if I have reached?

I like the lyrics of this song.

Its has a deep meaning...listen to it too ..nice music.

Come with me now
Come with me now

Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna take you down
Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna show you how

Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna take you down
Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna show you how

Afraid to lose control
And caught up in this world
I've wasted time, I've wasted breath
I think I've thought myself to death

I was born without this fear
Now only this seems clear
I need to move, I need to fight
I need to lose myself tonight

Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna take you down
Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna show you how

I think with my heart and I move with my head
I open my mouth and it's something I've read
I stood at this door before, I'm told
But a part of me knows that I'm growing too old

Confused what I thought with something I felt
Confuse what I feel with something that's real
I tried to sell my soul last night
Funny, he wouldn't even take a bite

Far away
I heard him say (Come with me now)
Don't delay
I heard him say (Come with me now)

Far away
I heard him say (Come with me now)
Don't delay
I heard him say (Come with me now)

Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna take you down
Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna show you how

Afraid to lose control
And caught up in this world
I've wasted time, I've wasted breath
I think I've thought myself to death

I was born without this fear
Now only this seems clear
I need to move, I need to fight
I need to lose myself tonight

Whoa, come with me now

Whoa, come with me now
I'm gonna take you down
Whoa, come with me now

This is actually true. I myself am a victim, my daughters go to one of those south delhi public schools. I made a statement once in the school that the school is involved in imparting information (and not into the business of imparting knowledge). Teachers were upset and also the management (I can't blame them). I see a phenomenal shift in education - today the schools are business houses, result, targets and trying to do too many thanks within a small frame (the schools keeping grouping, they have some kind of star rating between themselves. The result is every school in the vicity will get some 5 star for something which they use to for PR and business development. The pay structure for teaching staff is pathetic - the result is, you have 95% women teachers who are housewives (many of them are quite intelligent and diligent) but they are just told to complete the syllabus and one text book given. The schedule is so tight for them (with household chorus and teaching - most of these teachers get into it because they can be back home at 3 pm). This manpower is misused by the school managements. In all the casualty is KNOWLEDGE ACQUISITION... I have written many letters/ representations to HRD on this subject and hope something will change...

That is good music and good lyrics. I enjoyed listening to it. Thanks.

dear Vaagmi ji,

I am glad you enjoyed the song.

When this song hit the market everyone was not sure what the singer and his brothers meant.(all are brothers in this band)

Some were not sure if the song was about God or the Devil. Many were totally not sure.

But if one reads the lyrics carefully..its actually talks a bit of both..and how God is telling us 'Come with me now"

The Devil part seems a bit hidden where there is also hints about selling one's soul but yet the Devil did not bite.

The reason? Becos the God factor was stronger here and the singer sings that he has to lose himself from the world..that is why he sings he has wasted time, breath and thought himself to death..that is what almost everyone of us does..we get trapped in the vortex of life.

So we just have to drop everything and go with God who is calling out 'Come with me now"

For God its always Now,.there is no past..there is no future.

That's why I like this song lots.

Its just too good.
