I did know about the program, but if you try to achieve mediocre performance by levelling down that is much easier, than trying to achieve excellence.
We can not achieve uniformity, and we do not want it.
We want equal opportunity, then let the desire to grow be recognized and encouraged. The smart people will prosper. That should be guiding factor.
But in democracy the voting blocks play their part. Democracy is the best, of the worst forms of government.
We support schools in various part of India. Basic education even in Tanjore village is not available. The lone teacher collects all grants from government and enrolls students, but has one mud room building from KG to 12. You think students are learning? Corruption is rampant. I am sure some of the posters will tell me it is all Brahmins fault. This teacher was not a Brahmin and was well connected with the political party.
