dear Sir,
Thank you for doing your duty fairly without favoritism.
The mistake was mine.
I will be more careful in future.
with warm regards, :pray2:
Visalakshi Ramani.

Dear Sisters,

My intention was not to embarrass you. In the past, I did receive comments about some postings, but being not prudish, I let them go, for the sake of education and minimum Moderation.

But, as I said, we have an unrestricted Forum. So, we need to be cognizant of that. I tried to give you a way to edit. But when Srimathi Renuka Ji moved it to another thread, I had no option.

Please remember - our Forum is not 'Adult Only' . While I appreciated the humor, I also needed to safeguard our Forum's interests.

Regards,
KRS

When DO THE pain killers become a luxury...???

When a person HAS to take a strict regimen of assorted tablets,

before and after lunch/ breakfast/ dinner etc,

pain killers become A REAL LUXURY!

Life is so uncertain.

We do not what lies in store

for us the next day!

We do not know whose help and

grace we may need tomorrow.

So it is really wise

always to be nice

even to little mice

since
in fact Life is

a game of dice.

I have to get one doubt cleared before I give my reply :)

I find replies from S. Ramanathan and Dr. S Ramanathan.

Apparently they are two different persons. Am I correct?

I just want to clarify that I am S. Ramanathan, a CA working in an Insurance co. Regarding other Dr. Ramanathan I have no idea and he has to clarify.
Many animals save for the rainy days (Ants) for the winter (chipmunks and members squirrel family) may be an exception.
husband should become deaf to her comments. If so why girls donot prefer deaf boys?

Girls and women WANT to be heard and listened to.
But men either pretend not to hear or DO not really hear!
The best gift you can ever give to a girl /woman/ lady is
your undivided attention!
How many times has anyone given this in one's life time???

Dear Sowbagyavathy Visalakshi Ramani, Greetings.

I refer to post #103.

They are not luxury at all; they are commodities. Isincerely wish you didn't have to have them...... but if you have to, kindly don't think they are luxury, but think they are commodities.

Cheers!

Dear Raghy ji,

Since you are also in the medical field I want to ask you this question.
Do you or have you ever got bored of seeing patients?

Dear Raghy ji,

(I know this addressed to Raghy ji, but couldnt help stating something which is unlikely to pop up in either of your minds)
and that is ...

Many times I feel sick of seeing a doctor :)

But make sure we do not play it with a Sakuni in disguise!!

I don't know about others, I always had to play Sakuni. But, loosing those games never bothered me so far. For me, life is always good! ஒரு கோட்டர் , கொஞ்சம் வாட்டர், முடிஞ்சுது மேட்டர்!

Cheers!

Dear Raghy ji,

Since you are also in the medical field I want to ask you this question.

I have moved to Mental Health Nursing. I am not bored ever to see my clients. They love, look forward to see me. For at least one of them, I am the only bridge between the world of scizophernia and the reality. I love my breaks; they hate my breaks!

Cheers!

Am I being shown the other side of Mr. Raghy???

Is the place anything remotely resembling

what we are being shown in Tamil movies???

Off to Chennai tonight!
VISA interview on 19th.
Usually I will leave home in good spirits
and come back sick with my tail tucked in.
But this time I am already sick with flu + knee problem!
Will I feel better or worse when I come back home??? :noidea:

dear Mr. Raghy,

There are some tablets which we have to take for LIFE...in order to be alive!

But pain killers may be taken or may not be taken - depending on the tolerance limit.

So they can be considered a luxury.

When PAIN is the ONLY constant companion -
never leaving our side the way other family members do-
We might feel strange without the pain.

So It can be labeled a luxury!

Pain Gate Theory.

Pain originates within the body and is difficult to be measured objectively. Pain perception is highly subjective. It is a matter of one’s mind. Cultural factors, personality and mental attitudes influence the sensation of pain. Extroverts report more pain than introverts.

Whether or not we feel the pain is determined by more than the nature and intensity of the external stimulus. Women seem to bear the pain better than their male counterparts. The feat performed by the Indian fakirs by sleeping on a bed of nails would be unthinkable–even in the wildest dreams of the westerners.

That the pain can be controlled by thought alone has led to the new theory of pain perception, called The Pain Gate Theory. In order to feel a pain, the pain signal must be strong enough to force its way through the pain gate–a real anatomical structure in the spinal cord.

This pain gate protects us from trivial pains and aches. Cortex which produces endorphins, the natural pain killers in the brain, feeds this gate. Its release can effectively close the pain gate and decrease the level of the pain experienced.

Nerve fibers with small diameter carry the pain stimuli through the pain gate. Nerve fibers with larger diameter passing through the same gate can inhibit those pain signals carried by the smaller ones.

Chemical released in response to the pain stimuli also influences whether the gate is open or shut to the pain signals. The pain gate can be shut, by stimulating the nerves carrying the touch signals, through massage techniques, rubbing, application of ice packs etc.

Acupuncture stimulates the release of natural opioids, chemicals inhibiting the transmission of pain signals. So to say, “We can fight one pain with another pain”.

I envy the fakir who looks so relaxed on his seat of sink-in-nails

much better than we do on our sink-in-sofa!!!

Sowbagyavathy Visalakshi Ramani, Greetings.

It is so sad to see your post on 'pain gate theory'. I didn't even read it. that is the last thing I would expect from a person I know. Truste me, please- pain relievers are not luxury. they are necessities. Please..get the pain under control. You don't have to tolerate it. You are supposed to be pain free.

Cheers!

Nope. Nothing like that. There are four different areas. 1st at the emergency; 2nd at the acute observation arrea (AOA). At AOA the clients are quite elevated and kind of out of control. I came across one girl who was quite off her rails. She believed she was married to the God.. Often times I found her nude in her room. She saw me as a father figure ( thankfully!) and followed my directions. Unfortunate girl.. either she may kill herself or she may be sick for her life..... sad. 3rd area is the ward and the 4th area is the community setting.
