  • [h=3]Harassed, buff meat truckers seek SC relief[/h] THE BEEF controversy may have died down, but the Supreme Court is seized of the sensitive issue, whereby it has to decide if NGOs in Gujarat can be permitted to inspect refrigerated trucks carrying buffalo meat from Uttar Pradesh to ports at Kandla and Mumbai for exporting if they have suspicion that it is cow meat. The apex court will also decide if once a competent state authority has certified that the truck is carrying buffalo meat and not cow meat, can there be any ground to doubt and private parties be allowed to re- check? Refrigerated Truck Owners Welfare Association ( RTOWA), the petitioners before SC complained that indiscriminate stoppage of the refrigerated trucks carrying buffalo meat, which is highly perishable, was causing loss of the entire stock, which was meant for export.

[h=3]Maharashtra to bear all expenses for teen cricket prodigy[/h] Mumbai, Jan 5 (IANS) Impressed by teenaged cricket prodigy Pranav Dhanawade's international record-busting performance, the Maharashtra government has decided to foot all his educational and coaching expenses, state Education Minister Vinod Tawde said here on Tuesday. "Pranav's spectacular performance scoring over 1000 runs and creating a new world record, is indeed a matter of great pride for the entire state and the whole country," Tawde said in a congratulatory message. "We shall offer assistance to Pranav for his further education and cricket coaching," Tawde assured after speaking with the cricket hero's father and congratulating him.

[h=3]With 1,000 runs, Pranav Dhanawade bats his way into record books[/h] The little-known United Sports Ground in the suburbs of Kalyan found itself on the world cricket map, albeit briefly, as 15-year-old Pranav Dhanawade scored an unbeaten 1009 — the first ever batsman to reach a four-figure mark — during an inter-school tournament here. The facilities are not that great here but at least this knock will help me get recognition and a chance to represent Mumbai,” Pranav said. The rectangular ground at Wayle Nagar in western Kalyan, 57 km from Mumbai and three stations down the line from Dombivli — where Ajinkya Rahane comes from — has short boundaries on the off and leg-side, not more than 30 yards.

[h=3]Netflix set to tap Bollywood-mad India in pursuit of global viewers[/h] Netflix Inc's global expansion is set to reach movie-mad India, industry executives said, where high-speed Internet connectivity is rapidly spreading among a vast population used to paying pennies for their latest Bollywood fix. Slowing growth at home in the United States has put pressure on video-streaming service Netflix to grow internationally and India, where a fifth of the country's 1.3 billion people are online, is widely seen as a likely next step in Asia. Netflix declined to comment on its plans but industry executives told Reuters they expect an India announcement as early as this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, where co-founder and Chief Executive Reed Hastings is scheduled to talk about the company's international expansion.

One can never be too careful! :(

[h=3]Missed clues and lax security in runup to Pathankot air base attack[/h] By Rupam Jain Nair and Douglas Busvine NEW DELHI (Reuters) - The hijacking of a police officer's car by gunmen disguised in uniform should have set off alarm bells and helped prevent a deadly weekend attack on a military air base, officials and security experts said. Three days on from an assault that killed seven military personnel and wounded 22, five attackers have also been eliminated, but an operation was still under way to secure the sprawling compound in Punjab that lies 25 km from the border with Pakistan. Police Superintendent Salwinder Singh's call to a colleague in the early hours of Friday morning, after his car was hijacked, was at first treated as a case of armed robbery, the officer who answered the phone said.

Yes. One can never be too careful.

but even a few minutes / seconds relaxation of security is enough for the militants.

Very true sir! They are waiting for a split second of carelessness to get in to do their destructive job.

So we should be extra extra careful with the proverbial "viLakkeNNaiyai kaNNil ootrik koNdu!"

Those whom we love, we just remember now and then but
those whom we hate we manage to remember constantly.

Here the hatred also sets the people in motion
for destroying and upsetting the peace and quiet. :(
