    US President Donald Trump has blamed Democrats for his administration’s policy of separating children from their parents at the US-Mexico border, which has prompted widespread outrage. Nearly 2,000 children have been split from those caring for them a six-week period during a crackdown on illegal entries, according to Department of Homeland Security figures obtained by the Associated Press. Reports say some are as young as four months old, and stories of weeping children torn from the arms of their frightened parents have flooded the media.

    China hikes tariffs on US soybeans, electric cars, fish

    China fired back Saturday in a spiraling trade dispute with President Donald Trump by raising import duties on a $34 billion list of American goods including soybeans, electric cars and whiskey. The government said it was responding in "equal scale" to Trump's tariff hike on Chinese goods in a conflict over Beijing's trade surplus and technology policy that companies worry could quickly escalate and chill global economic growth. China "doesn't want a trade war" but has to "fight back strongly," said a Commerce Ministry statement.

    New law to tackle 'hideous' upskirting is presented to Parliament

    Theresa May condemned upskirting as a "hideous invasion of privacy" as the legislation to make it an offence punishable by up to two years in prison was introduced to Parliament. The Bill will tackle a gap in the law concerning surreptitious photographs taken up women's skirts without their knowledge or consent. Mrs May said: "Upskirting is a hideous invasion of privacy which leaves victims feeling degraded and distressed.

    At least 3 "tender age" shelters set up for child migrants

    The Trump administration has set up at least three "tender age" shelters to detain babies and other young children who have been forcibly separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border, The Associated Press has learned. Doctors and lawyers who have visited the shelters in South Texas' Rio Grande Valley said the facilities were fine, clean and safe, but the children - who have no idea where their parents are - were hysterical, crying and acting out . The government also plans to open a fourth shelter to house hundreds of young migrant children in Houston, where city leaders denounced the move Tuesday.
