Aung San Suu Kyi to keep Nobel Peace Prize despite UN saying Myanmar carried out act of genocide against Rohingya

Aung San Suu Kyi will not be stripped of her Nobel Peace Prize despite a United Nations report which said Myanmar’s military carried out an act of genocide against Rohingya Muslims. UN investigators said Myanmar’s military took part in mass killings and gang rapes and its top generals should be prosecuted for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Ms Suu Kyi, who leads the government of Myanmar and won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1991 for campaigning for democracy, has been criticised for failing to speak out against the military crackdown in Rakhine state.

Trump announced on Twitter on Wednesday that McGahn would step down after the U.S. Senate confirms the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. McGahn will be the latest senior adviser to leave Trump's side, underscoring the White House's persistent turmoil.

Trump scrambles to bolster legal team as aides fear 'winter is coming' if Democrats retake House

The White House is scrambling to bolster its legal resources amid fears Donald Trump has failed to appreciate the potential peril he faces if Democrats retake control of the House and trigger impeachment proceedings. With Mr Trump announcing this week that White House counsel Don McGahn will leave once the Senate confirms Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, reports suggest the outgoing lawyer wants Emmet Flood to replace him. Mr Flood who worked previously for George W Bush, and, crucially, for Bill Clinton during his 1998 impeachment hearings, was hired by the White House this spring.
