Think or sink!

A man went to a new village and asked the man coming from the opposite direction,

"mee ooru manichithenaa?" (= is your village/city a good place?)

The new man replied in a matter of fact tone,

"mee noru manchiti aiththe ee ooru manchithe!" (= if your mouth is good then this place is also good!)

Moral:
We make our friends as well as our enemies through our tongue/ speech/ mouth!!! :moony:

That is why a person is his own best friend or worst enemy! He does not need another person to destroy him!

A man must elevate himself by his own mind, (SELF) not degrade himself.

The mind (SELF) is the friend of the conditioned soul, and his enemy as well.

Karthigai brought Vardha. No lights could be kept outside the sweet home. Those who had kept the purchase for last minute

could not buy the special items for pooja! Flowers only from the garden. :)

Here is one of my favorite poems both because of its :wacko: theme

and the fitting 'rhyme and reason' formed out of a few random words!

The Blow and the Glow.

There was this strange fellow,
A moment of peace will not allow;

Inside, he was a person yellow,
And his love was very shallow;

He made his loyal wife swallow,
Insults streaming out in a flow;

Age should have made him mellow,
But it did in fact add to his bellow;

His wit would work very slow,
He loved to hit, her belt below;

He would his routine follow,
A bachelor’s life all aglow;

He would tell his loyal wife,
“Mother of five! Enjoy life!”

The wife had got tired and sick,
Thought it was time to hit back;

“Oh dear Father of three!
Go and enjoy Scot free!”

Now that was a real blow,
Too big for him to swallow!

He came to senses, bent low,
Never again left his bungalow.

[A story, by my father told,
As a poem, by me retold!]

What a blow this must have been for the eternal-bachelor-in-heart!

1. He can never know whether his wife spoke the truth or just pulled his leg.

2. He will never know which 3 out of the 5 are his own and which are NOT!

Resulting in a mind blowing 5C3 = 5 x 4 x 3 = 60 possibilities!

3. What if he left the house and a sixth child was born to make the odds against him even by making both odd numbered???

Small wonder he bent low never ever left the bungalow again!!! :pout:

You must feel thankful that Vardha left at least a few plants and flowers in your garden
Yes Sir! We should thank God for the small mercies! :hail:

We had a rain of mangoes from the tree in the backyard and I am distributing ONLY the good ones to my dear ones nearby. :D

Should the point 2 be as follows 3 out of 5 (order not matter) 5C3 = 5*4*3/(1*2*3)=10
Of course this is a doubt from a pedant.

Dear Sir,
Namaste! :pray2:

Thanks for teaching me a new word "pedant" :)

True! The Order of the children can be only one... from the eldest child to the youngest child.

Often I make slips on purpose so that some one will enter the thread at least to correct it! :)

NOW we have everything on the Internet.

nCr = n!/{r! x (n-r)!}

So 5C3 = 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x1 / 1 x 2 x 3 x1 x 2 = 120 / 12 = 10.

Touch a snake willingly?? No No! It is not my piece of cake! But apparently it is Juju's piece of cake.

After going to the local zoo with her classmates, she has petted a golden corn snake.

She said was extremely cold and smooth. I would not have touched a snake even if it were certified as non-poisonous!

Once in a big famous zoo, we were allowed to pet the baby sharks.
My newly wed D.I.L suggested that I pet the shark.
I did not by my son petted the shark and proved his bravery!

Knowing the inside of the mouth of a shark I am surprised that still some people dare to pet them. They must be very same persons who watch the horror movies at midnight and love to get scared out of their wits!

For thE first time in four decades, I will not be singing Thiruppaavai and Thiruvembaavai in a temple.

It does not really matter since I can sing from where I am. The Eastern and Western hemishpere appear to be far separated to us the erthlings.

From the outer space they will appear like two adjacent houses. And both Krishna and Andal know who is singing, from where and why! :)

Krishna just wants us to remember Him always without interruptions.

He is happy with whatever we can offer him with pure devotion...
be it a leaf, a flower, a fruit of just plain water!

If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit a water, I will accept it.

YESTERDAY was woolen thread plaiting day for me.

I made 15 different clip-on-braids in all possible combination for Juju.

I was surprised that to illustrate the simplest plaited yarn braids,

with just three strands, people need as many as 3 dozen photographs!!!

What will happen if we go on to plaiting with 4, 5 and the 'aayiram kaal pinnal??? :faint:

May be it will need 'aayiram' images... one for each 'kaal'!!! :rolleyes:

Looks like the U.P.S guys like to play "Find the treasure game"!!!

Some of them leave the parcels at the step of the guest house

which we usually visit once a week to set out the trash and recycle bins.

Some others keep the parcel to one side of the front steps and cover it with

anything thing they can get hold of.

Yesterday was the ultimate treasure hunting day.

I saw the U.P.S approaching the house with a parcel in his hand.

By the time I sent my husband to bring the parcel it was gone!

After searching the plants and bushes in the front, he found the parcel safely

hidden away behind a bush. We would have never known about it if I had not

seen the U.P.S. guy through the window.

I am sure, there is a small child lurking inside every man and woman -

however old/ tall / large / huge / heavy they may grow up to become! :rolleyes:

The recapture.

His family had long lived by agriculture,
But he yearned for a life of adventure;

In that struggle he lost his composure,
And ended up becoming a caricature.

By luck he met this man very mature,
Who knew a lot about our culture.

He could also predict one’s future!
They had a long chat at this juncture.

His words were indeed a long lecture
Our hero’s decision proved premature,

He decided his past life to recapture,
He happily returned to his agriculture.

P.S : Does anybody remember this old film song???

Two poems are posted today since I forgot to post one yesterday!

A real heiress!

She was born a real heiress,
And later became an actress.

Her profession made her an adulteress'
She wished she had become an authoress;

Could have been an uncrowned empress,
Been to her readers a real enchantress;

She could well depict a seductress,
And in addition to it, a sorceress;

Life had made her a temptress,
And a terrific fortune huntress,

She ended up becoming a mistress,
In her mind seething like a tigress!

Hoping and praying that there is no real person
who would fit in all these descriptions!!!!
