Absolutlely true! Love is pure and to be same for every one and everything --to and fro! But the problem comes --the parties involved are conditioned and we human beings are highly conditioned irrespective of religious affliations.
Religions gradually remove the conditioning as the person evolves towards realisation. The role of the individual is equally important
