BJP leader in Tamil Nadu hacked to death, party calls for statewide bandh on July 22 - The Times of India

Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy demanded that the state government appoint a special investigation team to probe the recent killings of leaders of Hindu outfits

In Kumbakonam, 13 BJP workers were taken into custody for staging demonstration.

This is the third killing of BJP office bearers in T.N.

BJP and RSS are political parties, people may have their choices in political party in a democracy.

Murder is a different story, that is a criminal matter.

Normally if 2 persons A , B are enemies and if A is murdered then the suspicion will come on B naturally . But in politics especially in a State like TN were Multiple parties compete among each other to occupy the political space we must not take such a simple view that if A is murdered then Only B is responsible . There can be other people like C,D etc who may have committed the murder to create further rift between A,B with the result each keeping attacking / killing each other's cadres and diluting their respective strength and that will be useful for C,D to take advantage politically .

Also today each and every party has their own set of enemies inside their own party and I will not be surprised if it is an inside work eg. murder of many senior party leaders in DMK - T.Krittinan , Aladi Aruna , Ramajeyam , Pottu Suresh etc

In Politics there is no permanent friends / enemies and the Mantra is if I have to move forward Politically then either I defeat my opponent / competitor Politically and if I cant defeat him Politically then I will use the weapon of murder and eliminate him /her (i.e Kondral Paavam Vendral Poochu ) and this applies to not only to the persons of the rival party but also people from one's own party .

Also I wish to add that in Politcal Murders there are other non political dimensions to it like Business rivalry , caste rivalry , family disputes , affairs with women etc etc .

Having said that I will wait for the Police investigations to find the real culprits .But will the Police be given a free hand to investigate the same ?

Police declare rewards for information on accused - The Hindu
In the backdrop of murder of two Hindu outfit leaders, the police have announced rewards for those who could provide information leading to the arrest of three persons wanted in many criminal cases.

The Madurai district and Madurai city police have separately released the photographs of Bilal Malik and Police Fakhrudheen, both from Madurai, and Panna Ismail alias Ismail of Melapalayam of Tirunelveli district.

The first two are wanted in the October-2011 case of planting a powerful pipe bomb on the convoy route of Bharatiya Janata Party leader L.K. Advani at Alampatti in Madurai district.

The police have cited Bilal and Police Fakhrudheen as the prime accused in the case. The Special Investigation Team that arrested one of the key accused persons in the case, M. Hanifa alias Nagoor Hanifa (35), at Dindigul on July 8, had seized a newspaper cutting containing the photograph of a Hindu outfit functionary. The police said Hanifa and his accomplices were trying to take revenge on some of the leaders of Hindu outfits.

Bilal was accused in the murders of A.R. Kalidoss, a Hindu Makkal Katchi leader, and Gangadaran Poosari in Madurai in 2005, the police said.

These people accused in some old cases were absconding for quite sometime, the Inspector General of Police (South Zone), Abhay Kumar Singh, told The Hindu .
“They are wanted in the old cases. Since they are absconding, we do not know whether they are involved in any fresh cases,” he said.

The police also pointed out that few fundamentalists from Tamil Nadu had been arrested in connection with the Bangalore bomb blasts.

The statements said that the identity of the people who provided tip off about these criminals would be kept confidential.

Distressed over Ramesh murder, BJP woman leader kills self

Distressed over Ramesh murder, BJP woman leader kills self - The New Indian Express

Upset over the brutal murder of BJP State General Secretary ‘Auditor’ V Ramesh on Friday night, a senior woman functionary of the party allegedly committed suicide by immolating self at Chinnathirupathy in the district on Saturday morning.

According to police, Raja Rajeswari Babu (45), BJP state working committee member and a district office bearer of Tamil Nadu Brahmins Association (*******), in her dying declaration stated that she took the extreme measure as she was distressed by the murder of Ramesh.

According to Kanankurichi police, Rajeswari had called a press conference on behalf of ******* in the afternoon to condemn the murder of the party general secretary. However, the conference that was to be attended by senior leaders did not materialise as she immolated self.

Rajeswari lived alone in Salem after her only dauthter was married off. Her husband Babu works in Kumbakonam for the Transport Department.

According to Kanankurichi police, Rajsewari must have set herself ablaze at around 11.40 am. Neighbours found her with burns and shifted her to Salem GH around 12.20 pm. On admission, doctors said that she had suffered almost 100 per cent burns and chances of survival were little.

According to sources, Rajeswari was closely associated in party activities with Ramesh. On Saturday, she was seen along with senior leaders after the news of Ramesh’s death spread till his cremation and had taken part in the procession led by party workers from the mortuary to the house of Ramesh.

National General Secretary of the BJP, Muralidhar Rao, State President of the party Pon Radhakrishnan, District Secretary R Gopinath and other leaders visited Rajeswari at hospital.

Jehadi Link?

Citing the murder of party general secretary Ramesh, BJP national general secretary Muralidhar Rao said that the attacks on party leaders were not Tamil Nadu-specific events but had a national dimension.

Addressing the press here on Sunday, Rao said that fundamentalist forces were targeting nationalist leaders and recalled the pipe bomb attack attempt on L K Advani’s rath yatra.

Rao urged State government to take measures to investigate the murder and the previous attacks on party functionaries as well and bring the perpetrators to the book.

Rejecting any local angle to the murder, Rao said that the attack on Ramesh was a premeditated one and had Jehadi links. He reiterated the party demand to constitute a SIT probe.

Rao said that the top leaders were concerned with the attacks on the leaders of the State unit and added that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had contacted him on the matter.

If BJP cannot ensure protection of its cadres, then it is game over for them. A disturbing trend is emerging especially in the southern states of TN and Kerala, where there have been increasing terrorist activities directed against hindu outfits.

Dear Vgane,

The TN police have always been efficient in nabbing the criminals. However, without political will, we cannot hope to stop such terrorist activities.

Do you remember the Coimbatore blasts case? Even then several al-umma operatives were arrested. Madhani was the alleged mastermind. The entire Kerala assembly, full of Communist and Congress politicians, passed a resolution demanding bail for Madhani while the investigation was on-going. This is how secular credentials are established.

We killed 5 Sangh men: Ummah ultra
In a shocking revelation, terror suspect Fakruddin, who was arrested by Tamil Nadu Police on Friday, has confessed to his role in the murders of all five Sangh Parivar leaders in Tamil Nadu during the last 18 months. He said the leaders of the Hindu outfits were murdered by him in association with Panna Ismail and Bilal Malik.

Ismail and Malik were held from Puttur in Andhra Pradesh in a joint operation on Saturday by the Chennai Police and commandoes of Andhra Pradesh Police. All three were members of the dreaded al-Ummah, a banned organisation.

Sources in the Intelligence Bureau said Fakruddin told police during interrogation that he had plans to murder Ram Gopalan, the octogenarian leader of the Hindu Munnani and RR Gopaljee, the young organiser of the VHP.

Fakruddin had made two reconnaissance trips to Chennai Central on Thursday and Friday as part of his mission to bump off Ram Gopalan and Gopaljee. While Ram Gopalan is considered the main ideologue of the RSS in Tamil Nadu, Gopaljee is known for his acumen as an organiser.

Fakruddin was held by the Special Investigation Division of Tamil Nadu Police when he was planning to sabotage Friday's Umbrella Procession at Chennai being held as part of the Brahmotsavam festival at Tirumala in Andhra Pradesh.

The procession, which was revived by Gopaljee after a gap of ten years, carries 11 huge umbrellas meant for the October 8 festival in Tirumala. Thousands of devotees, including leaders of various Hindu outfits participate in this age-old traditional procession, described as a major cultural event in Chennai. Any untoward incident would have had far-reaching consequences in the State, said a senior official.

The police were on the lookout for Fakruddin for his role in the plan to assassinate senior BJP leader LK Advani in October 2011 during his Jan Chetana Yatra.

A six-foot-long PVC pipe, stuffed with explosives and connected to a 12 volt battery was detected by the bomb disposal squad of the Tamil Nadu Police underneath a culvert hours before the BJP leader was to pass over it.

Interestingly, the policemen who nabbed Panna Ismail and Bilal Malik seized the same kind of explosives and pipes from their hideouts in Puttur. While Ram Gopalan declined to make any comment, Gopaljee said he was told by police officials about the revelations.

“Well, I will divert all my energy to strengthen Hindu dharma through peaceful means. One cannot run away from the battlefield,” he told The Pioneer.

Fakruddin is reported to have told the police, that he along with Bilal and Ismail murdered S Vellaiyappan (State Secretary, Hindu Munnani on July 1, 2013), V Ramesh (State BJP Secretary, July 19, 2013), V Arvind Reddy (BJP's medical wing secretary, October 23, 2012), B Suresh Kumar (BJP leader, June 26, 2013), and Murugan (BJP leader, March 19, 2013).

What stands out in these murders is the comparatively young age of the victims, pointed out a police officer. “This looks like a series of well-planned and selective murders,” he said.In addition to these murders, there were attempts on the lives of Sangh Parivar leaders like H Raja and Arjun Sampath.

L Ganeshan, member, BJP National Executive, said he was grateful to the Tamil Nadu Government for getting the culprits arrested. “But all these murders could have been prevented had the police taken steps to stop the free run enjoyed by the likes of Fakruddin,” said Ganeshan.

Though Syed Meera and Dharvesh Mydeen, mother and brother respectively of Fakruddin charged that they were being tortured by the police, senior police officials rubbished their claims.

“This is the standard practice and we all know how they would make false statements against us. We were very careful in our probes,” said a senior official.

Fakruddin told police he had plans to murder Ram Gopalan, the octogenarian leader of the Hindu Munnani and RR Gopaljee, the young organiser of the VHP

Ukkadam, a hot spot in coimbatore, is a preferred breeding ground for umma. The police have a good database of real and potential terrorists; catching them or encountering is a different game altogether.
