Dear Vaagmi ji,

Just say a girl is named Aminah.

Before marriage she is known as Aminah Begum..but after marriage she will be known as Begum Aminah.

So who is this unmarried Parvati Begum living in the hills?

Don't you know? Very simple. She is Parvati Begum born in the family of Parvatharajan. She remains Parvati Begum because she is still searching for her lover in the UC. The UC is so diffuse and large, she is still searching. Help her if you can by making the UC finite for a few seconds by some magic. LOL.

Now that Hindu Males God's Nikha with Thuluka Nachiar Sanctified in Srirangam requesting for Renus help to help Parvathi Begum to have her Nikkha in Kailayam ! Looks like Love Jihad in reverse with vengence!

And what magic did you use Renukaji? It appears to be very effective. The latest news is that a part of the UC rematerialized itself into various lingams and there is a big fight going on between these lingams for the hand of Parvati Begum. After the smaller lingams with just nuisance value like jambu, vambu etc were vanquished there is a big fight going on between a Mahalingam and a Boothalingam with another Poornalingam butting in. Boothams are supposed to be big and Maha goes without saying that it is the biggest.

And Narayana is all smiles watching the fun. LOL.

Moral of the thread:

The one who is hungry will eat.

The one who is thirsty will drink.

The one who needs spiritual improvement will renounce.

The one who already mastered spirituality and is realized, will feel blissful and KINGLY.

Perhaps this applies to gods too!

Cheers!

Sorry Sher Khan! Thuluka natchiar is in fact married to Rangantha unlike Parvathi Begum!

Ranganathar also appeared in the head bhattar’s dreams and pronounced that he had now taken Surathani to be his wife. Full story in the link

Normally, Muslims will convert the bridegrooms if they are from other religions.

What happened in this case? What is the new name?

It is lawful by Allah Almighty for Muslim men to marry only Jewish or Christian women, but not lawful for Muslim women to marry non Muslim men of any faith. In this article we will see the wisdom behind it.ut

Even if a Hindu declares that he believes in only God - Allah Almighty has a different idea about this claim!

Details in the link

But Ramanuja I belive certifed thousands as Brahmins -- That could be a solution!

Obvious - New namakaranam - is Thulukka Natchiar!

In this case, the bridegroom would have been converted. What is the new namakaranam of the bridegroom or what is the apt one muslim name for him? The best name will be awarded.

A very fast moving tune! Good one, thanks.

Tamil poet Namakkal Kavinjar has translated the song in our mother tongue.

Here it is:

பெருங்குணத் தவனே வைஷ்ணவனாம் ;

உறுதுயர் தீர்த்ததில் கர்வங் கொள்ளான்

உண்மை வைஷ்ணவன் அவனாகும் ;

Wonderful! Thank you. :flypig:

Each subsequent sentence/stanza goes in the same vein and finally, the great Narsi Mehta says, "ભણે નરસૈયો તેનું દર્શન કરતાં કુળ એકોતેર તાર્યાં રે. ॥૪॥" and this portion means " If Narasaiya gets his Darsan (i.e., Darsan of such a vaishnava) the whole kula (lineage) will cross re! (meaning, if Narasaiya could get the Darsan of such a true vaishnava, then Narasaiya's kula or entire lineage would be able to cross (this samsaara)).

The song is not a paean on vaishnavas as is sought to be made out.

1. Narasaiya is a vaishnavite and simply lists vaishnava lakshanam. He does not say that non-vaishnavites do not have these sterling qualities.
2. And the respect he has for vaishnavas is vividly portrayed, as he says he and his kulam will benefit (not he alone) by his association with such a vaishnavite.

He has put vaishnavites in a high pedestal, and has not said anything negative about other 'ites' or 'ists'.

The song is not a paean on vaishnavas as is sought to be made out.

paean: (ancient Greece) a hymn of praise (especially one sung in ancient Greece to invoke or thank a deity). I wonder why Mehta must not glorify the qualities of a vasihnava he has come across or expects to meet to cross samsara.

Narayana is finite. He coexists with Sri. So echo is possible from Venkatadri.

Problem with UC enthusiasts is that they can never get to know definiteness. They are already lost into the infinite and are poor souls wandering. It is like a butcher trying to sculpt a beautiful statuette. The end product is a miserable looking Jumplingam which is neither here nor there. You can never make out whether it is fully in or out. LOL.

The fully in and out - Neither here nor there - In fact Naryanas has enacted this in one of his Avatars - Not fully inside or out side- neither here or there - he vanquised Hiranyakasyapu! killing the father in front of his young son ! Regarding Linga - Chintayil Vaikavendum (in) & Naavil(out) Niruthavendum for your bliss . Jumplingam weither completly in chinthai or out in navil (Tongue) bestows Bliss upon you unlike Naryana resulting in an end product that is blood bath! Is this not Butchery?

About the size of lingam smaller or the biggest - Even here Narayna perfected size story - in jiffy cunnigly to be tiny or Monstarous in another episode - for 3 foot of land - Vamana Avathara ! Bliss is not related to size of Linga!

Is Naryana still smiling?

!

How did Thulukka Nachiar call the God of Srirangam? Badshah or Sultan.

How did Thulukka Nachiar call the God of Srirangam? Badshah or Sultan.

Please go and ask your North Indian friend. Tell him that you want the answer because a certain Mr. Kuththalingam is going to give a gift of one million if you give the answer. See the effect of your question on the North Indian. He may reward you. You may be ebding up asking your friend Kuththalingam to change his name. LOL.

How did Thulukka Nachiar call the God of Srirangam? Badshah or Sultan.

Not necessary... The 'nachiyaar' identifier is not to erase her 'thulukka' identity (which is why it was preserved 'intact' in her name) but to mark the fact that she is now a Vaishnava 'deity' as she has become one with the lord! This is the grace of almighty Sriman Narayana, to confer a 'deity' status even to a mleccha and to preserve her name intact at that!

Abacharam! Abhacharam

See the tradtion followed!

So even today, in SriRangam, at the sannidhanam, we can see two utsavars receiving worship. Also, the shrine to Surathani is found near the Arjuna Mandapa, next to the main sanctum and she is lovingly called Thulukka Naachiyaar. Once a year, the Kalyana utsavam of Thulukka Naachiyaar with Arangan is celebrated with great pomp and show. In testimony to her unflinching love, to this day, Arangan’s breakfast naivedhyam consists of Butter Roti’s and Sugar, cooked Mughalai style. They are first offered to the Naachiyaar and then only offered to Rangan.

it is Kalyana Utsavam with all vaishnava traditions as codefied by Ramanuja and not a Nikha - Naryana's concern for his Natchiar is again demonstrated here like His Naivedhanam is salt free in Uppiliappan Koil ! She is worshiped not as Aamen but as Thuluka Natchiar Amman as certfied Brahamin

This tradition is preserved in a Telugu folk song called the "Surathani Kalyanamu".

You know more about these traditions in the link

http://wisdomofchanakya.blogspot.in/2010/08/muslim-consort-of-vishnu-in-srirangam.html

This tradition has spread beyond Srirangam. During the annual Chithirai festival in Madurai, Kallalagar, a manifestation of Vishnu, travels to Madurai to attend the wedding of his sister Meenakshi to Lord Sundareswarar who are the presiding deities there. After crossing the nearby Vaigai river, tradition holds that he spends a night with Thulukka Nachiyar before he gets to the divine wedding function. The tradition is also present in the Thiru Narayana temple at Melukote in Karnataka where the Muslim princess is known as Bivi Nachiyar.

The offfer is tempting I will try my hand in the Game - of suitable Name !

Vaagim Baari !! the vaishnavised Namakarnam of Wasim Baari the famous crickter!!

I thought it is like the famous Hindi playback singer Kishore Kumar's (Hindu) affair with Madhubala (Muslim). One version was that both converted to the religion of bridegroom and bride respectively.

Perhaps it may interest this forum to know that since we do not consider caste to be an issue in serving the Supreme Being (through service to others, not "poojas"), we now have a Joseph Iyengar in our midst, who is considered a scholar by all of us.

Regarding Vaishnava Janato, there are a number of Sanksrit and Tamil works which speak of Vaishnava Lakshanam, qualities which a Vaishnavan (literally, he who sees God in everything) should have. The Azhwars themselves (not all of whom were Brahmin) speak of this too. The challenge in present day Tamil Iyengars, is they have let the mainstream Brahmin world convince them that they too are Brahmin, and that they too perform nonbus and poojas. In actuality, Vaishnavas are supposed to be committed to treating all people with equanimity and doing something to benefit the world to the best of one's abilities.

I received this interesting message by e-mail from my friend in a music circle.

Here it is:

''The Bhajan 'Vaishnava Jan To' immortalized by the singing of M.S. Subbulakshmi, has an interesting story behind it.

It was a Gujarati bhajan written by Narsi Mehtha, and was one of the favourite songs of Mahatma Gandhi. After hearing

MS singing Meera and other bhajans Gandhi wanted the Vaishna Jan to to be sung by MS. He was eager to hear it through

her sweet voice. This message came to her from Delhi.

She did not know this song . She was hesitant and said that இது எனக்கு பாடமில்லை and someone more familiar with

this song should render it. When Gandhiji came to know this, he sent a message through Rajaji, that he would rather have

MS read it to him than someone else singing it.

After that, MS learnt the song practiced singing it and finally her song was recorded in the studios of AIR. The tape was

sent to Delhi. But unfortunately, Gandhi was assassinated on Jan 30, 1948 and he did not hear it. But, AIR played this tape

along with the news of Gandhi's death and for several days following his death. When MS heard the news of Gandhi's death

and her song being played in the radio almost continuously, she swooned. Every time she heard this song subsequently,

she was overcome with grief. She used to avoid singing this song in her concerts, as she used to become very emotional.

So many have sung this subsequently, but none could get the depth of her rendering.

Gandhiji and MS both are gone, but the song lives. Listen to the song and look into the meaning of it. Who is a true Vaishnava?

Gandhiji himself was one!

M S S renders the song (without percussion instruments)

The user of the horrible term mleccha is rather tasteless. I assume the poster would not like to be called infidel or kafir by the Muslims.

Dear Biswa Ji,

The term Mleccha is also found in the Valmiki Ramayan.

I was quite surprised to read it..one line had the word Mleccha ,Arya and tribals rulers sitting in front of King Dasharatha.

So I guess the word Mleccha was not taken to be an insult..it might just denote those who are not following an Arya lifestyle...in other words Non Vedic...so I wonder which racial groups were Mleccha in times of Ramayan.

Dear Renu,

Wiki says:

''Mleccha (from
Vedic Sanskrit mleccha meaning "non-Vedic", "barbarian", also romanized as "Mlechchha" or "Maleccha")

referred to people of foreign extraction in ancient India. Mlecchawas used much as bárbaros (
Ancient Greek: βάρβαρος)

was used in
Classical antiquity: originally to indicate the uncouth and incomprehensible speech of foreigners and then

extended to their unfamiliar behaviour, and also used as a derogatory term in the sense of "impure and/or "inferior" people.''

Sri Jayadeva has used it in his dasAvathAra stOtram.

''mleccha-nivaha-nidhane kalayasi karavalam

dhumaketumiva kimapi karalam

kesava dhrta kalki sarira

jaya jagadisa hare.

O God, in the form of the Kalki! For the destruction of the wicked, you carry a meteor-like sword in your hand, trailing a train of

disaster to them. Hail! Hari, God of the World, Victory to Thee!''
