VHP also agreed with Hindu Mahasabha, which is preparing to forcibly marry off couples seen together on Valentine's Day. According to VHP, cases such as the Nirbhaya gang rape happen because couples openly express love on Valentine's Day. Jain said, "There should be no violence (on February 14), but those who love each other must get married. In the name of love, do not indulge in naked display of lust. It is because of these celebrations that incidents like (Delhi gang rape) happen."

On its right to be the moral police, Jain retorted, "What right did Mahatma Gandhi have to steer the freedom struggle? When police do not take action, society will have to."

May be Mahatma Gandhi would be persona non-Grata today in India.

A group of women activists have decided to take to the streets on Valentine's Day to capture photos of lovebirds hanging around in public places like parks and share them on social networking sites.

Members of the Greater Noida-based Mahila Shakti Samajik Samiti (MSSS) will also inform the youngsters' parents about their "indecent acts", and thus put a check on "obscene acts" by young couples and discipline them.

The move has invited a lot of ire among youngsters. "We're grown-up. We understand what is good or bad for us. Moral policing does not make any sense," said Radhika Agarwal, a student.

Uttar Pradesh's moral police to shame couples on V-Day - The Times of India

Social engineering or invasion of privacy? Mob rule or rule-of-law?

The MSSS is the same organization which, accompanied by a few women constables, had carried out a surprise raid in City Park in September last year and thrashed young couples. They had been served showcause notice by the city police after the incident.

If ramsena files a case in chennai high court, citing similarity with fashion parade in colleges and universities, the court will definitely ban vday.

LOL! This is like close proximity (Khalwat) offence in Shariah Law where a male and female seen in close proximity are made to get married right then and there.

BTW what if a Muslim guy is caught with a Hindu girl on Valentine's day? So would VHP perform Love Jihad and get the Muslim boy married to the Hindu girl?LOL

Dear Prasad Sir,

The lovebirds may feel happy for the FREE sharing of their lovvu photos! :)

When we were returning from Ernakulam to Palakkad, after attending a wedding, we saw a very huge crowd of males and females

assembling in a ground (Ernakulam) and an army of police men and women roaming around, resulting in a traffic jam! We were told

that it was 'Kiss day', to protest moral policing!

Here is the news posted along with this video:
Kiss Of Love : Marine Drive Kochi

''Published on Nov 1, 2014

Sunday is Kiss Day in Kerala's Kochi to protest moral policing

Youth to mark Nov 2 as ‘Kiss Day’ to challenge moral policing in Kerala.

The organisers of Kiss Day have invited couples to assemble at the city's Marine Drive on Sunday evening to protest the attack as well as express their

right to love openly. "Lovers will kiss each other. We want to send a strong signal to moral police that violence can't overcome love," one of the

organisers, S Rahul, said. "Criminalization of affection and love is really bad. The attack against the coffee shop was just a trigger. Sadly this tendency

is growing everywhere," Rahul said.

The organisers have also put up a Facebook page called Kiss of Love, which has already garnered over 16,000 likes. They also plan to take the campaign

to other cities in protest against intolerance and moral policing. A number of LGBT (lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders) have also lent their

support to the campaign. Organisers expect that at least 10,000 couples would turn up for the Kiss Day event in Kochi.

"We can't prevent people from assembling. But if it creates a law and order problem and traffic snarls, we will arrest and remove them from the spot,"

Kochi's Deputy Commissioner Nishanthini said. To assert their right to love following an attack at a coffee shop in Kerala's Kozhikode district last week

by the BJP activists, a group of youngsters in Kochi have decided to observe the next Sunday as 'Kiss Day'. Though the police have denied permission

to hold the event, the campaign against moral policing has put the police and the district administration in a bind.''

Hamaaraa Bharat Mahaan!!

Valentine’s Day to be Parents’ Day in Chhattisgarh

Valentine’s Day to be Parents’ Day in Chhattisgarh

The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) government led by Chief Minister Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh has officially declared Valentine’s Day as Matru-Pitru Divas (Parents’ Day).

The state has been celebrating February 14 as Matru-Pitru Divas instead of Valentine’s Day since 2012 on the advice of the jailed Godman, Asaram Bapu.

Making it a permanent arrangement, the Directorate of Public Instructions (DPI) has issued standing orders to celebrate Matru-Pitru Divas every year on February 14.

“The state government had issued circulars to celebrate Matru-Pitru Divas in 2013 and 2014. It has become a regular practice now, which will continue in future. There won’t be any fresh orders for this from next year. The day has to be celebrated every year,” said an order issued by the DPI, a copy of which is available with The Hindu.

Instructions have been given to all school principles to carry out the Matru-Pitru Divas celebrations this year, added the DPI.

On this day every year, the parents would be invited to the schools of their children, who will offer prayers to them.

However, Chhattisgarh Education Minister Kedar Kashyap denied that the move to replace Valentine’s Day with Parents’ day was an attempt to stop Valentine’s Day celebrations.

“There is nothing new in it. We have been celebrating parents’ day for almost four years now. It is not to oppose anyone or anything,” Mr. Kashyap told The Hindu.

Mr. Kashyap also denied that there was any pressure from the Rasthtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) or Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) on the state government into making this arrangement.

Having a Matru-Pitru Divas is so Un-Hindu.

Mata and Pita are not just meant to be glorified for 1 day..Mata and Pita are meant honoured all year round.

Here it seems to be the Matru-Pitru day is just making use of Mums and Dads to make sure Valentine's day is not celebrated.

I have written many times in forum that instead of St Valentine's day we Hindus can celebrate Sant Vatsyayana' day and freak out maximum.

Valentines day too has spawned new crimes. A girl was stabbed for ignoring her possessive boyfriend, those getting multiple roses showing off and making fun of unfortunates, couples zooming in two wheelers terrorizing other road users.

Under the pretext of having FUN, people drink and dance on the roads, creating traffic jams.

In our country, Valentine day is another misunderstood concept from west. In western countries, I have seen kindergarten school children bring in valentine card and sweets to their classmates to show their love. Similarly teachers and children share wishes. Overall the concept is about promoting love. If we could not fully understand other culture or tradition, best to stick to what we know well.

[h=3]The sending of Valentines was a fashion in nineteenth-century Great Britain, and, in 1847, Esther Howland developed a successful business in her Worcester, Massachusetts home with hand-made Valentine cards based on British models. The popularity of Valentine cards in 19th-century America was a harbinger of the future commercialization of holidays in the United States.[/h]
Now it is like all other Hallmark Card day. Lots of business is created on these festive days like mothers day, fathers day, teachers day etc. There is no sexual connotation to such days, unless the warped mind of people who are basically ignorant.

In USA kids in elementary school exchange Valentine day card. All day care centers have children make valentine day card for theit friends and family.
Suddenly it comes to India, and Hindutva brigade overreacts.

Dear Prasad Sir,

All these 'DAY's are used to make many kinds of business flourish - cards, roses and other gifts. This 'Lover's-day' has become
'A-day-to-show-love-to-anyone', to make the business multifold.

In India, Akshaya tritiya has become an important day of the year and people throng the jewellry shops to buy gold and silver

articles, to bring prosperity to them. The funny part is that people pay an advance amount and fix the purchase even before a

few days! This is just a new technique to sell those metals.

A few years back, 'getting a green color saree from parents / brother' was observed and servant maids took off from work to

visit their village, to 'collect' their gift. All the textile shops were flooded with green saress in all ranges! Another year, 'lighting

a gold-ghee-lamp' was announced as a way to bring prosperity. Many mAmis still have them in their pooja room! :)

A right-wing Hindu group that vowed to forcibly marry Indian couples indulging in public Valentine's Day displays of affection got more than it bargained for when hundreds of student protesters turned up demanding a wedding.
The students, some carrying heart-shaped placards that read "fall in love not in line", were briefly detained when they tried to break through security barricades put up around the Delhi offices of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha.
The group, whose name translates as the All-India Hindu Assembly, had announced it would dispatch teams to parks and shopping malls across the Indian capital on Saturday to target canoodling couples.

The plan sparked ridicule on social media and the students plotted to disrupt it by turning up in full wedding regalia and demanding to be married. One female protester wearing a traditional Indian bride's outfit shouted that officers were "not allowing us to keep our wedding dates" before being driven away in a police bus. Some Hindu hardliners view Valentine's Day as a Western import that goes against Indian culture, and have in the past threatened to forcibly marry couples found together. Valentine's Day protests have at times turned violent, with reports of hardliners destroying cards and posters at shopping malls and blackening the faces of young unmarried couples out in public.
In 2009 Hindu radicals in the southern state of Karnataka barged into a corporate Valentine's Day party and ransacked the venue, injuring two people.
Chander Prakash Kaushik, head of the Akhil Bhart Hindu Mahasabh, defended the group's plans. "Celebrating Valentine's Day is not part of our Hindu culture. And showing love in public is definitely not," he told AFP.

Chennai successfully defeated the opposition to V day; in a TV news clip, one couple braved the noon sun and managed to cuddle in marinas sands! Brave souls exist!

Many love birds are brave, Sarang Sir.

If you walk on any beach in Sing. Chennai in the evening, you can get free shows of :kiss:s!!

One can't be too careful. Last year under congress rule in the band stand beach in bandra, mumbai, all such couples were loaded into police van and taken away. Anyday the police can apply indecent behaviour in public law to snatch love birds. So V day has nothing extra to offer!
