Yesterday, while watching Sankara TV (occasionally), I noticed the Kanchi Seer (Jayendra Saraswathi) was taken in a procession in Bangalore. He was seated in a big Pallakku with lot of flash lights. I think the procession covered main streets. There was lot of singing, dancing, playing of instruments etc.

It seems the Kanchi Mutt has a branch there and it celebrates some function.

During 2012, the Sringeri Acharya was tenting in Chennai (Simpson Anantharamakrishnan's house in Radhakrishnan Salai) for more than three months while observing Chatrumasya Vradha. Daily he gave Arul Vakku; sometimes very interesting.

Sabash! Sariana Potti!

What is the potti about?

I do not believe in Worshiping any human being.
He should have stopped this practice of being carried, and instead should have walked with the procession.

Srigeri has so many branches in Chennai and other places of Tamil Nadu.

Probably, Kanchi Mutt also wants to have such branches apart from Tamil Nadu.

What is the level of support both get outside their respective States needs to be assessed.

Follow the message of the shankaracharyas not the medium. We dont need to assess the popularity quotient of the acharyas. Each is qualified in his own right. Each worshipped by his followers in their own way.The only thing we need to assess within ourselves is whether we have BQ (Bhakti quotient) and whether remarks floated in this forum are meant for achieving instant popularity. The debate of Shringeri Shankaracharya vs kanchi shankaracharya is centuries old and a feeling of boredom sets in when it is raked for the umpteenth time.

It was not Bangalore, it was TUMAKUR; a district HQ located 75 Kms north of Bangalore.

Thanks for your reply.

It seems that Kanch Mutt spreads its wings in district headquarters of Karnataka also.

Sringeri may be restless.

.Both the Acharyas are trying to spread their wings..

Maybe he thinks that only the Pope can stretch his limbs... this id had posted a mischievous piece about Saligramam earlier (that his Iyengar FIL told him that Saligramam was anaconda saliva etc...) and I think it is a jackal inside a lamb's skin here.

Kuvalayavalli seems to be taking over from where our Asirvadam left... :-)

Or transformed!
