Weekend reflections

Singapore is a city where everything is orderly.

Full time water and power, good public transport -metro rail and bus, clean large roads and smoother traffic

There is always a fear that one is breaking some rule or the other.

Living in such a society is OK as a visitor for short stay.

One gets homesick missing the noise and disorderly living in india.

We have lived with a philosophy that rules if any are meant to be broken.

We feel comfortable with a feeling that minor violation of rules is fine

Who has not violated a traffic signal or crossed roads when the traffic sign is red?

The unwritten rule is bike and car drivers should avoid pedestrians light or no light.

We have very few accidents when we see the extent of violations.

so more are honest in relationships and call it quits if it does not work out

I cannot help welcoming this new india

Krishji,

Are you sure that you are NOT becoming Blasphemous??????

Is there any scriptural proof that it is allowed???

Will it pass the smell test of our "religious police"?????

Few weeks back it was IDBI To day its IF&LS Can LIC put its money money in these dud investments? Can LIC emerge unscathed.?[
LIC is kept afloat by policy holders premium . So LIC"s income is assured. . Taking IDBI and IL and FS will help keep fiscal deficit numbers in

check.Nothing much happens to LIC.

When in Delhi try walking into the monument next to old safdarjung airport.

Thats the meeting place for all lovers .

Police normally keeps off . Very considerate of them.

Only some hijras try collecting money from them to leave them alone.

Lodi garden is another place for meetings of youngsters.

Only senior citizens taking a stroll frown on the activities of youngsters.

It is truly a shame that two consenting adults do not have many places to meet and simply hold hands.

Homes and hostels are ruled out.

Police get into moral policing only in shopping centers and crowded places.

Historical monuments appear to be the best bets.

There used to be a 'Lovers Path' in Madras right from Corporation Bandstand to Radio Beach Now it is Chennai -Bandstand is Anna Square - Lovers Path is crowded like Ranganathan St. Kannagi stands at the entrance of Radio Beach constantly reminding glorification of கற்பு! Naturally Lovers avoid this path! Marina is for mourners visiting mausoleums!

My sons have different opinion Both are in financial services Both qualified in these investment and financial services

The elder an independent alogorithmic trading consultant in Bangalore -IIT (M) MBA(Columbia) feels investing in IL&FS with huge debts by LIC is foolish - money goes into drain

The younger CA ICWA currently Vice President (Infrastructure leasing finance) Yes Bank - says investing in debt ridden company could be opportunities if the investor is shrewd like Kanoria with Marwari DNA !

Previously he was with SREI PNB Paribas infrastructure leasing and hence feels there an opportunity!

In case of and FS it is a PPP .Profit for private sector partners and losses for public sector.lol

Some tip for you , invest in NASDAC thru Motilal mutual fund. you will avoid emerging market woes.

Also apply for IRCON public issue also thru ASBA . Thank me if something good happens.

Another sunday-24th oct18

1. Media is full of "me too" stories

Men being shamed for their acts done mostly years back.

Mostly men in media, entertainment world like TV,films are in limelight.

There is a huge segment of men outside this group-in academic world,in homes employing domestic workers in govt and corporates employing women.

I sincerely hope this ends fast with affected women getting fast justice and they can move on in life shrugging of their past horrors which might have left scars .

Almost majority of women have a personal story that they have deeply buried and suffered in silence. Perhaps speaking out and sharing their stories can give them some

solace.

2. Train accident in Amritsar, train running over 80 plus watching burning of ravan effigy .Local state govt and railways are equally guilty.Railways shrugging off

responsibility I am unable to digest. I think of Lal bahadur shastry who resigned as Railway minister for Ariyalur train tragedy which killed many. Where is morality now in

politics? I have stopped taking trains in north india-in particular Delhi-Howrah route. Trains in south are much safer .Much better than buses in safety.Planes are most safe

So I am preferring it even for short inter city travel.Due to competition for increasing load factor, fares are competitive.

Trump is making things difficult for H1B visa aspirants mostly indian women. Of course Those holding MS degrees from US and other univ are unlikely to face any difficulty.

Trump's policies might hit emerging nations like india depending on iran crude and finalising russian defence imports.US might foist F18 planes on india which india will refuse

as Pak has the same aircraft.Indian rupee sliding to 73-74 levels and RBI not touching interest rates will further hit the indian economy. If US imposes sanctions India would

have to weigh other options. On the whole it may not be a good time for indian economy.

Indian stock market is sliding further down. Shares of high P/E value or volatile high beta shares are taking a beating.NRIs are preferring to invest in US than india for

better returns. even indian FMCGs like hindustanunilever,ITC are heading downwards as there is the belief that they are over valued.Enterprising investors might think that

it is a good time to invest in value buy available at rock bottom levels.I think it is a good time to splurge on holidays instead of storing money for better days.Every

hotel, airline is giving huge discounts. Malls are empty with no buyers. So best spend getting value for money

Not necessarily . Recently few of boys from my family and friend circle who had done MS in USA 5 years back and were working there were asked to pack their bags and leave and some will be forced to leave within a year .

Good advice.
But I agree with mkrishna100ji,
People on H1 are definitely in trouble in The Trump USA. Actually, even people on Green card are facing uncertainty every day. It is sad.

Cheer up .Trump may not seek re election.Your state elections may give the trend for the future like in india. We are looking forward to state elections in northern states in

one or two months.BJP is unlikely to win them . That will decide the future for lok sabha elections in 2019.National elections will not improve the status of BJP or congress. We

might get a rag tag coalition with congress or bjp support.

Really nothing to cheer up.
Modi is not as bad as Trump.
Trump will seek reelection and win it.
Trump has already put back the USA about 50 years back, in his next term he will take it back another 100 years.

The world is going away from democratic values to a brutal dictatorship.

The US market is booming, so we are making money, that is the only thing to cheer up.:noidea:

India's dilemma is how to balance china ,US,Russia to serve its own national interest.

It recently did defence deals with russia .It also tried getting oil from iran on rupee payments before sanctions kick in. It flirted with soudi arabia to increase its oil reserves.

Tried to give explanations to US for its actions.Resisted buying F16 aircraft from US. Obliged US on motorcycle imports.Trying to cosy upto japan for bullet trains.India is

trying to handle foreign affairs brilliantly

2. India has screwed up on economic management. Demonetisation and GST have cost india dearly.Indian rupee has tumbled to lows of 73 plus to dollar. All the sops to

indias poor is not helping much. Food inflation and supply demand mismatches are hurting all India" middle class splurging on exotic indian ,foreign holidays,

spendings on discretionary consumer durables are hurting the current account deficit. The super rich is uncaring and becoming stinkingly rich at the cost of all.So there are

social tensions beneath the surface which is showing up in mindless violence, hatred between sections of society

3. Women are on warpath coming out in the open in #Me too postings on social sites taking on high and mighty men . They are being defamed and brought down for acts

done a decade back. There is karma in operation. It always catches up with everyone at unexpected times.Actions by women are ruining family lives and many seniors

in sixties and seventies are getting hauled up for their decade old actions. This desperate attempts to settle scores with men is leading to a situation of gender confrontation

and damaging career and lives of many successful men.How many families will escape unscathed is anybody"s guess

How does one cope with stress . Some suggestions-not mine really but from someone in MNC.

Think of alcohol, try drugs, affairs with colleagues, bullying those working for you, bunk from stress spots and make juniors handle troublesome issues, clients,

2. Worlds oldest profession for women -prostitution is feeling the effects of recession and economy melt down in athens greece. The rates have halved from 33 euros to 18

euros with more new entrants [mostly immigrants] .This profession is legal in the country. This appears to be better than lowly jobs such as waitress, being child nanny. <removed> Most women are enjoying their new found freedom with good

women centric laws, adultery getting decriminalised and men feeling helpless with all laws being against them.Any woman can simply frame a man and get away with it if a

little smart.

Seriously?

I dont think females really want to get into prostitution to pass time.
Its not an easy profession to handle and comes with severe side effects socially and also mentally not to mention potential lethal effect of HIV/STD.
