Over the years I have found that people from India, whether they still live in India or New Zealand (both tb and non tb) would like to believe certain things about local Msian and Spore Tamils. Nothing otherwise would dissuade them from their rigid, somewhat snooty opinions of Tamils/Indians of the Malay archipelago. So best leave it at that.

amala,

100% agreement with you.

i have heard this from the other side. sad but true. the immigrant tamils usually keep aloof and apart from the local tamils, if my relatives in singpo mlysia are any examples.

a little bit of condescension and lot of sense of superiority embedded there. little do they forget, in a generation or two, these too will be singporian descendents.

worse, if they have to find brides or grooms, they rush off to india.
