When Women Packs

when women pack.webp

Sorry if i had offended any women here!!

I have a list of 'things to do' before any trip, like stuff to be packed (it differs of course with the number of days of tour

and the occasion), safe keeping items, medicine, 'to check' before leaving the house - motor, gas, fridge. So packing takes

maximum two hours. And... there is a set of tooth brush, comb, mirror, pottu, safety pins, hair slides etc kept ready in a kit! :thumb:

Hence, I do not come under W W category! (W W = Worried Woman! )

:gossip:
I can even plan for a get together on the eve of my travel date! :)

Sorry if i had offended any women here!!

OMG! It is true>

I pack my bag 1 month before I go for any journey overseas.

Then I make a list of everything ..so that I do not forget anything...

Then I go through the list again and make sure I havent forgotten anything.

Then I also make stickers printed ready with my name and address on it.

Photocopy my Passport and Visa too for ready use.

Then I think what shoes to go with which dress.

Also think which scarf to match with which dress.

Then bring about a few good lipsticks to match with the clothes I bring.

Bring fragrant body wash and shampoo ..want to be fresh all the while.

Bring mobile phone charger..universal adapter..plastic bags to be used to place soiled clothes.

Bring some basic medications for emergencies in my luggage.

I get a dental check up before any journey..so that I do not land up with any tooth problem anywhere.

Give my parents all my bank passbooks and banking details in case I do not come back alive..they know where my money is.

A few days before the journey I would paint my fingernails and toe nails a neutral nail polish color to match all the outfits I have brought along for the journey...need to look good in any other country! Good for the image of my country..that its citizens dress well.

I will be so ready for everything and 24 hours before flight I will go through my check list again!

But I do not worry..it is just that I like to start early..I do not like doing things the last minute..but the only worry I have is 'are these shoes OK to bring..is it too flat or is it too high> For me it is more about a fashion worry!LOL

I'm like Raji mami. Less than two hours to pack. Minimum packing toiletries/medicines (I always make sure I have plasters and paracetamol) and whatever. Only a pair of shoes to match all outfits. Matching or not, I don't give two hoots. Can't be a slave to fashion forever!

Dear Amala,

My medicine kit contains paracetamol tabs, Disprin (I use that solution to cure sore throat), pain balm, Gelucil, Avomin,

antidiarrhoeal tabs, Brufen and of course some cotton and plaster! In any family get together (Ram's side) my first aid kit

happens to be the star attraction! 'Want any medicine?' - 'Ask Raji manni!'

Dear PJ sir,

I forgot to add this in my post yesterday...

You know I actually go shopping one month before any journey to buy new clothes too!

So you see my preparation starts much ahead!

renukaji/Raji Madam

Whenever some friends come to know that we are going to India , they will come with a request to carry an item or two to be collected by their relatives!!!

Same is the case when we return from Chennai to US; sometime it is very difficult to say 'NO' we do not have space'' to them.

We do not know how this can be avoided..

Have you ever been in that position?

Dear PJ sir,

I never consent to taking anything unless I can see what it is..cos I dont want to be a drug mule for anyone..sometimes people expect you to carry seal packages for them..I will never agree to carrying anything for anyone no matter how close.

Out here drugs carry mandatory death sentence so now way!

You know how to avoid this?

Never tell anyone you are going on a trip..I keep all my travel details silent so that no one asks me to take anything for them or asks me to buy anything for them.

So next time PJ sir..dont tell anyone when you plan your trip..just go and come quietly.

When I went to India in August none of my relatives/friends knew it.. I kept silent about it..you see I do not like to ask others to do favors for me and also would not like others to trouble me too.

I remember when I was a student in India my fellow classmate asked me to carry duty free liquor for him cos he bought lots exceeding the quota and wanted fellow classmates on board to help him out to carry it under our names.

I told him F off!

The last thing I want to do is to be carrying liquor that too for someone else!LOL

Dear P J Sir,

When my sister's elder son was going to the U S of A, one of his friend's dad wanted him to carry 'some' items for his son.

Agreed.... but lo and behold! It was a sack - yes! - sack full of stuff including two pairs of boots! I politely refused saying that

it will need two 'yAnai' boxes to pack that stuff alone! Finally, he left a box of medicines which was really essential and took

the rest of the stuff with him, of course in the same sack! :)

It is best to say that you are not allowed to carry more kgs now a days. You can accept a tiny pack, if really essential!

Raji madam/renukaji

It is always a sealed packet they hand over and make point to carry that with our Hand Baggage!!
Many times we have refused to take because we are allowed only 23 Kg two Checked in Baggage, some Airlines do not allow even 2 Baggage 23 kg.

Nowadays Grand Snacks Pickles, Paruppupodi, Pulikachal etc are available in most Indian Stores in US.Even Vadam, all types of powders, ready made foods are available in most Indian Stores.

When you carry some medicines, either for you or for someone else, Raji Madam, make sure to carry relevant Doctor Prescription, Pharmacy Bill as it may be required to be shown when questioned.

Problem is people just want to take advantage you, and when they travel, we never request them to carry or bring any item from Chennai.
