who can wear a bindi?

The bindi has to be of good quality. Otherwise, the skin may develop infection.

Even kumkums made with turmeric base are injurious sometimes. Also, when

Turmeric based kumkum is worn near the parting of hair, local baldness
develops!

It is better to use sindhoor instead of 'manjaL kunkumam' near the hair line.

The posts have meandered over to pottu and mai. The original op was who can were Bindi, because of protest by Mr. Zen (the so called self proclaimed) defender of Hinduism, and his objection to others (non-Hindus) wearing a bindi.

Dear Prasad Sir,

How long can we talk about bindi? :blah:

Be happy that we are able to share our views about related topics too here. Otherwise we have start

a thread each for 'kumkum', 'chAndhu' and 'mai'! If Mr. Zen objects to non Hindus wearing bindi, do

you think anyone will care? In fact many Gurus are objecting to decorative bindis and even the plain

sticker pottu saying that a Hindu 'sumangali' should wear ONLY kumkum! I have already mentioned

that wearing 'manjal kunkumam' creates skin infection in some persons. :(
