I would classify energy as being of two types, one which reflects the reality and the other which obscures it and shows an alternate reality. Every other energy is some mix of these two types.

One's mind is also one of these predominant categories. What is perceived by one's jivatma is what one sees as real. Mind simply reflects that perception of soul. So it is difficult to change one's nature in a birth because whatever changes has to have enough spiritual depth and touch the soul. That rarely happens especially in the present times.

But we can say that the only permanent way for something to make a change is to touch the soul and not by simply trying to create understanding in a superficial way. How can one touch a soul? The best way in my view is to understand something in a holistic way. The more holistic something that is perceived, the better the chances of reaching the soul. On the other hand purely selfish acts are not holistic and are anti spiritual. When something reaches the soul, one's happiness is a bliss, if not the happiness is shallow.

Consider this example of a business bargain. In the spiritual approach you include the other person also considering his welfare. You may sometimes lose something materially but one's happiness is always robust. In the selfish approach you try to exclude the other person and try to always gain materially but in the bargain compromise on real happiness.

I am surprised many people focus more and more on material things and be content with shallow happiness when actually they can be both blissful and wealthy if they turn away from their material attitude and adopt a spiritual attitude.

Think about it folks.

Dear Sravna,

If one runs their own business and has long term plans to sustain it..its part of the plan to cater for the benefit of the business, employees and clients.

Its only those who want to form a sham company for a quick get rich scam who has no thoughts of anything else besides self gain...that too criminal in approach cos eventually they seldom escape from the law or have to live a secret life to escape being caught.

This has nothing to do with spirituality...its just smart business planning.

Coming to being wealthy...why should this even be in the equation?

Amount of wealth is subjective and it depends on how much a person can handle.

On a personal note..I would not like too much money or too little money.

Actually to lead a comfortable secure life one does NOT need that much money.

I feel that we are over working ourselves in the quest for accumulating wealth..in 2017 I decided to have a laid back attitude in life..cut down my working hours..taking more time to connect with myself..not that I made all the money I wanted...nope...not that...its just that I realized that there is more to life than just working and working.

Life is too precious to be wondering too much about money...even a lesser money steady state which allows a comfortable secure life is the best bet anyone can have.

Its not about spirituality again here...its just a matter of learning to value life.

Sadly not many agree with me cos the field I work in expect one to just work their life off for others.

Sorry..not me..I come first in my life..I set the rules..but that does not mean I neglect others when I am working.

Dear Renuka,

The point I wanted to make was becoming wealthy need no be antagonistic to being spiritual or leading a principled life. You can make as much money you want and still be principled. But the trick is your focus should not be the money. In that way you can always be happy and also be in a position to help others if you decide to make money.

Dear Sravna,

Spirituality is not linked to presence or absence of wealth.

Its linked to the presence or absence of DESIRE.

But I have noted some super rich...just do NOT have any ceiling of desires.
There is an anxiety created in their minds that the need to increase what they have and their whole life becomes calculative.

Then they try to fake their excessive desires by doing massive charities all with desire to get some Punyam.

Selflessness is totally missing.

Out here there is a business community that celebrates Navaratri with pomp and show and they make massive donations and charity during Navaratri and they say if one donates during Navaratri one gets back 9 fold wealth!LOL

I wonder who the heck told them that!

So you see...sometimes massive donors usually have the highest desires.

So one can be rich cos of smart planning in life and be sans desires and one can also be poor but have many subconscious desires.

When I was aged 12 there used to be a girl in my class from a very poor home..she also had a reading disorder and could not read and write despite being 12 years old..another girl who was very rich used to help her out by buying for her real expensive gifts and paid for her food etc.

But the poor girl didnt accept all gifts..she only took what she really needed like some food etc..she told the rich girl that she should not get used to a rich lifestyle when she knows she will never be able to afford it eventually and wanted to retain her simple lifestyle so that there wont be problems in the future.

Only 12 but had wisdom.
She finally lefts school and got married at a very young age.

Dear Renuka,

Exactly. Spirituality is about not being desirous and that is what I am saying. You take out the desire and the money can be a side benefit.

One says spirituality is holy and eyeing money only from corner of eyes.

Another says make enough money for your needs and be comfortable and enjoy living.

What is happening to all here?

Times have changed.

There is need to un middle class people thinking.

Our generation felt proud to belong to it . We scorned consumption and looked at those generating wealth with suspicion and thought they were corrupt.

Now the new world around us in india is aspirational. we value cars and large homes. Mobiles have enabled all to aspire for better life than midle class. Malls have

become new places for frequenting. Gyms and beauty parlours mushrooming makes us all valuing ourselves more than earlier. we prefer to take selfies at every

possible and at all times of day and night. We now look at cooking and cleaning atr home as burdens and like employ domestics .

Our youngsters are teaching us to adopt this mindset.

Senior ladies are seeing the convenience of jeans and prefer beauty aids .Senior men in three quarter pants and dyed hair are frequenting bars and living a high life

visiting exotic countries.

Now seniors also want big money and would like to join the bandwagon of youngsters for classy living instead of limiting only to dal chawal and ration shops.

Time for them to outgrow the middle class mindset of socialist era and emulate the youngsters.

Dear Shri Krish,

We are at the same time living in two orthogonal realities , one being the physical world where change is the only thing that is permanent and the other being the unchanging spiritual reality. Living in accordance with physical reality can help us in material way, increase our physical comforts and so on but one needs mental peace too and for that you have to live in accordance with the spiritual reality. The problem is as I said they are orthogonal. So the best approach to getting the best of both the worlds is in spirit follow the spiritual reality but in an external way follow the physical reality. No wrong enjoying physical comforts but be not obsessed with them or go after them. Let them come to you.

What do you say?

Living better with physical comforts does not imply that we are spiritually immoral.

Spirituality has its own place in life.

No sense in mixing it up with decent living enjoying the worldly things around you.

Poverty is virtue - selling strategy of the CEO of spiritual industry - இச்சுவை is Spiritual bliss - இந்திரலாேகச்சுவை is Spiritual sin!
