Why people change their name?

Nameology literally means the Science of Names. It is a coined word. It is famous in India, especially Tamilnadu, which has the maximum followers of Numerology. It is only the Science of Names, as per Name Numerology.

It says that there is a close connection between the Numbers, Alphabets, and your Planets. And, that every letter in Your Name has a Meaning, Its Number, and a Vibration. Each should vibrate well with its Related Planet.

As per Nameology, a Correct Name as per Numerology makes you highly successful. If it is incorrect, you will meet with Obstacles, Miseries, and Failures. It means all the difference between Fortune and Misfortune

I have seen people with a name like “AMAVASAI” is tormented by his friends; in such cases a name change would do good to him.

Members, please share your views on this and those who think that it is not a worthy subject to discuss, please keep away from expressing any view.

Nameology -The Science of Designing Lucky Names

Dear Sir,

People are nuts for numerology based names out here...but in that process end up having weird sounding names and sometimes without a proper meaning too.

I have seen names like:

1)Vishannu for Vishnu

2)Woothyakumaarri for Uthayakumari

3)Waroonn for Varun

4)Devasya Dhimahi ! No joke ok!

5)Namitra..means Not a friend.

6)Dukesh..means sad person

7)Deenan..not Deena Dayal but just Deenan alone meaning suffering/poverty etc

8)Sai Vinash! Can you imagine?? Destroyer of Sai?

all becos people want to be within the recommended range of numerology..they land up with weird names.

But frankly speaking we can only alter names in Romanized script..like for example the name

Varun...I have seen spellings like Waroonn..in any Indian script for example Devanagari script it will be written as वरुणः all the extra O's and N's and even a W wont be possible.

So when people ask me why I never followed numerology to spell my child's name I tell them "hey we are not English Karans to be meddling with Roman alphabets to spell names..we are Indians and in any Indian script all this meddling wont be possible"

Personally I don't think changing names or seeing numerology will do any good..we CAN'T change Karma!

I do not know how far changing names can affect people but I have seen whatever name you keep , Society ( i.e friends /family members/ relatives ) will always find a way to call your name in a shortened form :
Eg :
1) Padmavathy will be called Padma
2) Ravi Shankar : Ravi
3) Venkatesh : Venky
4) Satchidanandam : Satchi
5) Krishnamurthy : Krish , the famous Philosopher J .Krishnamurti was called J.K
6) Sundaresan : Sundar / Sundi
7) Rajalakshmi : Raji
and like this it can go on .
So even if you do not want to squeeze and change your names , society will find a way to shorten it to its own convenience .
So better to keep short and sweet names to avoid it being tampered with by family and friends .

in india atleast, when people switch religions, particularly from hindu to either islam or christian, i think, they are obliged to change their names.

dileep kumar became allah rakkah rahman, though i think, it was a hindu astrologer, who suggested the spelling (could be the name) as numerology based fortune would follow. which it did.

and we have a few westerners, who when converted to hinduism also changed their names - margaret elizabth noble became sister nivedita and joined the Ramakrishna math.

I knew a girl, hema dore (e with acute accent on the e) who frenchified here father’s name dorai, to dore (with acute accent on the e - pronounced dO-ray) and put off marriage for a long time, much to the consternation of her parents. All because, she wanted a equally, what she thought sophisticated name, in her husband. Can anyone here think of something appropriate for hema?

I did not think these types of changes are real name change; but like adding an Additional word with the original name like RAJA becomes RAJAA, or Raja RAJA like that

Suppose the initials are S.V , they change it to S Ve like that.

Probably Present Chief Minister also have one additional letter A with her name JAYALAITHAA.
Kamala Hasan has probably changed his name to Kamal HAASAN.

I just want discussion on such changes, not the name change due to conversion to another religion( Kunjuppu Sir)
or shortening the existing name.

hi
i heard name called....dukhi raam....he always dukh.....like hari changed to HARRY.....KITTU/VACCHU/SEENU/KITTA days are gone....

PJ Sir

What I wished to point out was that name change is not just restricted to adding / deleting few letters in a name and what decides the fate of a name is "how that name is actually being called popularly " by people .
For ex . A lady by name Raja Lakshmi can change her name to Raja Laxmi or Raaja Laxmi but it will not matter much as long as people still call her as Raji ( i.e before and after her name change ) . There is a new theory that a complete shift in the way a person is called out is needed rather than adding / deleting a few letters .
Kindly go through this link for more details :
Founder of Nameology - Solutions
This is the essence of what that author is saying and that is what I am also echoing :
Numerology deals with addition or deletion of alphabets in a name, in relation to the date of birth of an individual. Nameology, on the other hand proceeds one step further and advocates change in pronunciation and utterance of the name too. Nameologist Considers the Name as a "mantra".

Note : I believe in the power of sounds and we can get lot of blessings chanting the sacred names of Gods with proper pronunciation and devotion but I am not sure whether having a name change either through numerology / namelogy will really make any shift . Always people quote few success examples of popular figures to illustrate their points but we have no data as to how many people failed to make success inspite of having their name changed either through numerology / namelogy .

mkrishna100 Sir

My name is Padmanabhan but since childhood i am known as 'PadhU'
These sort of name change is very common in our culture, and no one wishes to call using the original name like
Anadha Narayayan; his name either is shortened as Nanu or Narayan or Anand.

Kamal Hasan has probably changed his name by adding one more 'A' in his name KAMAL HAASAN like that.

Will there be any effect on the person by adding an additional letter to the original name is the question.

Got your point sir .
There is no concrete proof of effect on making name changes as we do not have sufficient data to verify as those who claim success to their clients achieving name and fame through name changes never reveal how many of their clients met with failure inspite of name Change .Few years back one Popular Numerologist claimed on TV show numerology works and gave the name of some successful IT Companies both in India and World Over and one of the companies mentioned was SATYAM ( this was before Satyam scandal ) .I do not know what he will say now . Might be now he will say that if its name was SATHYAM ( adding a H),this would not have happened .

Well, sometimes numerology has nothing to do with it, and people change name to make it more acceptable to "mainstream" audiences. I mean, if someone wants to be known in a pan-Indian sense, "Sundaresan Rajagopalachari" is harder to digest for the majority of Indians and non-Indians compared to something like "Gautam Bhattar", if you understand what I am saying :)

Sir

This is not this type of Changes, it is Adding an Additional Letter to the Original Name
like Raja becoming Rajaa to get the benefit under numerology.

balagangadharan

became

Bala G. Dharan :)

kunjuppu Sir

I don't think this really as per numerology to get some benefits, at best it can be a Shortened name.

Those who add an additional letter live A , E are doing that for some benefits.
For Example S. V. Anand is S.VE . Anand like that
You might have noticed Present Chief Minister of TN has one additional A to her name.
JAYALALITHAA
The Last A is probably as per Numerology.
