Wearables are a booming industry, and by 2018, reports estimate that Wearable Shipments will grow eight times from what they where in 2013.
The problem with current Wearables (Except a few, like the Moto 360, is that they look like Wearables. They look like tiny computers strapped to your Wrist and not like Watches which is what people usually wear.
The Withings Active was the first one that changed it, In fact, it looked and felt so good, that it even received the rare “Made in Switzerland” Branding usually relegated for premium Watches.
Unfortunately, it came with a Premium Price, and for what it offered, i.e a regular Watch with Sensors to track you, people could not stomach the Price.
For those people, Withings has announced a cheaper version of the Withings Active, called the Withings Pop. It is, of course, made from cheaper Materials (Silicone instead of Leather), and does not quite flaunt the same “Made in Switzerland” Branding.
It is, however, Water Resistant till 30m.
It, though, essentially is the same as the Withings Active when it comes to functionality: It tells you the time and discreetly tracks you whether you are walking, sleeping or swimming and sends the data over to an iOS-only App via Bluetooth. It can also wake you up with a Vibration Alarm and…that’s pretty much it.
It has a Battery that lasts for 8 Months with regular use, which is unheard of with Wearables, which struggle to last even a few days on Battery.
It comes in three Colors: Azure, Shark Grey and Sand and will cost $149, which is much cheaper than the Withings Active which costs $450.
