Your modern intrepretation was not my intention, I still worship my mother without expecting her to be my slave and the same with my wife and nieces. Being defensive and misinterpreting just tells, don't share any righ idea. All you said are taking place and that is sad, but if you look from Vedic time and for a long time women were kept in pedastals and were not treated as done. In general, excepting Indira, no one raped (not reported ) in historical time. You also imply( I don't hink so) even Shiva was mistreating Parvathi by controlling her to be his left heart. What a sad day for Parvathi.
Its not defensive..its a fact.
When we put anything anyone on a pedestal we fail to recognize that they are human and would have their imperfections and also they would also have areas they need to work on.
No one is talking about mistreating here but all rules are mostly for women.
Men can get away with lots of imperfection.
So to be fair lets put all men on pedestal too..may be we make them GOD.
and we women can say " O Holy Father..Thou art most powerful..I am nothing..so run the world for me and I would be the damsel in distress and you need to save me 24/7"
Then we women can just relax and do nothing and let men do everything.
Just imagine!
Wont it be unfair to shift the entire responsibility to men?
So when we overdo the women= Devi..women are forced to be what they are not.
We are not devis..we are humans.
A Devi is the projection of Brahman.
She is transcendent and is beyond duality.
She wont be imperfect..she wont make mistakes.
She wont have diseases or childbirth or family responsibility etc..
So let a woman be human.
Humanness is a learning curve with comes with imperfections which gets ironed out from life to life.
Its that simple.
