Write Kids their horoscope?

What is the right age to write the horoscope( Jathagam Kanippathu) for kids?

Madam,

There is no "right age" for casting a newborn's horoscope. It can be done soon after birth also. But there is a belief based on slokas put forward in a few books on astrology, which say that in spite of whatever the horoscope may or may not indicate, a child can die within the first four years due to the sins (Karmas) of its mother, from the 4th. to the 8th. year due to the sins of its father and, during the next four years due to its own past karmas.

Hence the practice among different groups varies; some wait till the child completes 4 years, some up to 8 years while some others postpone till the 12th. year.

Why does a kid die because of other's karmas. You can die of your karmas at any age, why put the guilt on the parents?

The basis of the karma theory is around cause and action. Our actions are responsible for our karmic consequences. So does it mean that by inaction we can resolve the problem? No. Non-action is not the answer, since according to karma, we cannot live in a vacuum. So maybe it looks like we’re doing nothing, but we’re living beings and are busy breathing and thinking as all those other activities like digestion, blood circulation, etc. happen inside us. All this counts as action.
karmic consequences are unerringly certain and inescapable. No divine grace can save a person from experiencing them.

It is my belief (no proof, no supporting evidence, etc.) that the child does not die due to its mother's or father's karmas/sins, but a child with short life destined for itself is born to such of the parents who are destined to suffer the sorrow caused by child's death. In such cases it is the past karmas due to which the child is itself born that causes such early deaths but such children are not born to parents whose karmas bestow to them happiness from long-lived children.

I agree with you that "karmic consequences are unerringly certain and inescapable. No divine grace can save a person from experiencing them.". Karma also works in a most pragmatic manner — like a perfect jig-saw puzzle.

Dear Prasad ji,

No one is born "karmically innocent".

We are all born with compatible Karmic patterns to "inherit" the Karmic pattern of a family.

Wow, we are on the same page. LOL

There is saying in our family that "not supposed to prepare jathagam until first birthday and no detailed studying until 4th birthday".

And why do I say "our family"? - Because these are only family/community traditions and not directives.
