Smartwatches currently are a gimmick, and there’s the typing headache on top of that. A Keyboard on such small Screens is just not effective, and voice recognition is unpredictable and isn’t all that accurate.
Microsoft Research set out to fix this Problem, and looks like it has succeeded. Microsoft has unveiled its new Method of Typing on Smartwatches, specifically Android Wear Smartwatches.
You basically Draw the letters on the Screen, and the software recognizes the letter. Microsoft says that this method of typing is very intuitive and can be done without even looking at the screen.
And since you have the full screen to draw out your Letters, you don’t feel as cramped as you would hunting for letters on a regular Keyboard on a Small Screen. It also is easily adaptable to a round Screen, which is important as currently the Moto 360 is one of the most Popular Smartwatches right now.
Of course, this is an early version of what could be, and so there are some issues. Firstly, you Battery Life is dramatically reduced, due to the Software continuously interpreting your gestures. Secondly, the Keyboard doesn’t play nice with Small Screens, and lastly, its supports only lower-case Letters.
It is available for Download, and but you would have to sideload it.
You can finally type comfortably on a Smartwatch, thanks to Microsoft | Tech Geek Forever
