They are related isn't it? Both are cords that binds tradition!

Pazakkam - Ozukkam-Vazakkam
It is being portrayed as if we are at the end of the road no woman is trust worthy. If that's the case i differ on a whole. It is the negative message passed by few saddists deepens the hole in this society.let us rather promote the positiveness in all the good practices that cherished in this country.Needless to say transformation comes from within & with a start...so it should not be a question btw a guy or a girl rather at society at large...
i knew few caste in TN have a practice of wearing metti fr MEN as well..but the question is if the gentlemen /women are carefree of it..what is the purpose..?
It is the thought of schooling one needs to learn from the good role models.I am sure atleast we will have few in our own families....
Request people to attempt promoting good things rather sigh of on the conventional system as no one completely knows the real purpose. It is just different interpretations...
.....
Since the brahmin guys have started wondering why to wear the poonal, viboothi / nAmam on the forehead etc,
women (all Hindus) have gone one step forward, wondering why to wear the 'thAli', 'pottu' etc!
/QUOTE]
Pretty soon it may be difficult to tell the female gender apart from the male gender, the way the women wear their bobbed hair, and pants and shirts. A joke comes to mind>
Two middle age people were standing in a bus stop in Chennai. There was another young person a few yards apart. The first middle age person told the second, "look at that young person over there, you can't tell whether it is a boy or a girl". The second person said, "that is my daughter". The first person said, "I am awfully sorry, I didn't know you were her father". The second person retorted, "I beg your pardon, I am her mother".:cheer2:
P.S: In tennis language we call it a double fault!
This joke reminds me one of my poems:
பின்னிருந்து மட்டுமல்ல
முன்னிருந்து நோக்கினும்
எப்பாலரென தெரியாது
சரிநிகர் சமானமாய்....
But in which Indian Language the letter M is written as M?
म् ம ??????
BTW Mamiyar and Mamanar and Mui money also starts with M!!
One initiates into brahmacharya; the other one breaks it!
See what I mean..it's obedience only for woman.
What about guys yaar?
They are always escaping.
That's why I feel some practices are man made to keep control on women.
The Ozhukkam for men should come out of wearing the yagnopavit (poonool)...It is a key instrument for inculcating and imparting discipline , values of life and would guide us on the right conduct.
Why start marriage by making each other spend so much?
Moderation is the key.
Fees for the medical course are now fixed at 2.8 lakhs. I do not know whether per semeste or year or the for the whole course.
We had a reddy boy in our engineering class. He said - dowry will go up by several lakhs for every year he completes (not passes).
How to recover the fees on medical courses?
Why are the fees so high?
dear VR !Mangalsutra starts with a "M"!
May be that is why it is made in the shape of a "M!"
Man or Male who ties it also starts with "M"
The lady Mangai who receive it also starts with "M"
Marriage also starts with "M"
Mandapam the veneu of the event also starts with"M"
Mitra who attend the function also starts with "M"

dear sir !Welcome to Forum my friend.
Dear Sri. Sarang, Greetings,
Leave alone the studying..... I know one boy who has a top job at the country levl in Australia.... he or his parents didn't ask for anything towards dowry... in fact they didn't even ask for anything....
Why should the girl pay all those fees back? How is that justified?
Now, if that girl is also qualified well.... very well, would the groom pay dowry to the girl's parents?
I think, the girls should visit the prospective grooms to choose the boys. Those boy's family asked the girls to sing or dance or both; the girls should ask the boys to perform a 'kata'. What is a 'kata'? Google it, please.( By the way, I did perform a 'kata' for her! But, just for her though).
Cheers!
In UK and USA the office going married women are wearing only the thali in gold chain and hide it in side their tops.they can not wear mancha kayir as in india. we shoud be happy that they have not hanging their thali in coat stand like some ultra modern folk in india.Dear RR ji,
Out here in Malaysia I can safely say 99.99% of South Indian woman wear their Pottu and Thali.
Some of us choose not to wear cos Pottu and Thali do not match certain clothes and further more men have no identification of marriage so why should females have?
But its not easy to face the crowd of Thali and Pottu wearers when you have a bare forehead and neck. They never leave you alone and keep asking you why you don't wear and sometimes even pass comments.
I call them THALIBAN!!LOL
porn item in yellow magazine (why it is called so )&in present day magazine carries all.

The pUNUl in the thread's starting post has been replaced by the tAli . It reminds me of
வாலு போச்சு கத்தி வந்துது டும் டும் டும் :clap2:
dear VR !The poonool will be inside the clothes.
No one is going to see it unless men walk around topless
like the priests and pundits in public places!!!
My father used to say this very often,
"In our place, everyone knows us and so we can be ourselves.
In a new place no one knows us. So we can be ourselves."
So we can just be ourselves all the time
and have a free mind without putting up pretenses
and trying to maintain imaginary images!!!! :drama:

dear renuka ji !Ha Ha Ha..
You know out here in Malaysia people believe in numerology and you will find weird sounding names and weird spelled names so that the letters in the name will add up to some so called lucky number.
Ok here are some names...be ready brace yourself.
Vishnu is spelled as Vishannu
Varun is spelled as Varrunn
Even names like Dukesh are kept cos they are numerically lucky..but what a name? Dukesh(Lord of Sorrow)
Ok Gopal is spelt as Gooppal.
Tarun is spelt as Tharroon.
I was wondering that if we write the name Varun as Varrunn in english alphabets but when we write it in any Indian language it will be spelt as वरुण् only..so all the double RR and NN etc will not occur.
That's why when someone asked me why I do not believe in Numerology for my son's name I told them "Cos I am not an Englishkari. I am a Tamilian and in Tamil I can't write all extra letters here and there"

dear shivaKC !who said, guys are always escaping? Check out this interesting song of Harry Belafonte, sung many a years ago, years before many of us were born.
pay attention to the lyrics, about Eve/ meeting girl at party/ blue eyed kid etc..
