“Parasthanam?’

“Parasthanam?’

Sometimes we follow some rituals out of fear both superficial as well as deep rooted and prevent us from looking at things the way they are with clarity.

There is a belief that one should not travel on the day of the lunar eclipse. Sometimes people leave their house, and sleep elsewhere on the night preceding an inauspicious day, on which a journey is to be made; or they keep their luggage in another house on a good day before the actual date of departure. This is called “Parasthanam”

My very close relative moved his (probably a part of it) luggage to ‘Veranda’ ( ரேழி) , in his home a day before his travel and said “since Joshier told us to move our luggage one day in advance, we did it” to avoid any disruption during our travel”

Well, how can this “moving a part of the luggage’ alone to Veranda nullify any possible disruption to his travel. I really wonder;

If one is afraid that something might happen if he travels on a particular day, he should actually on a day “the joshier ‘ has suggested, moving alone the luggage on a day prior to the date of travel is only for inner satisfaction.
