A 'Grave' Was Farewell Gift For This Principal In Kerala, Students Charged

Students of Government Victoria College have dug a grave in the courtyard of their college.

The sight of what appeared to be a freshly dug grave with a headstone, flowers and a wreath greeted the 56-year-old principal of the Government Victoria College in Kerala on March 31. "Whose grave is this?" Dr Sarasu TN asked a student. The reply shocked her: "Yours."

A group of students had been digging the "grave" since 7 am, Dr Sarasu found out later.

"I have not allowed students to protest and disrupt classes, so this is their farewell gift for me. They are not alone in this. There are some teachers from Left-leaning organisations behind this too," she alleged.

The outgoing principal claimed she had become unpopular mainly because she followed the rule-book very closely on student protests. "It is a government norm that at least a five-day notice should be given to the Principal before any event or protest is organised by students in the college. I tried to implement that," she said.

Based on her complaint, the police have filed a defamation case against the students of the Left-backed Students' Federation of India (SFI) in the college.

"The investigation is on and no case has been made out against any specific student, but against the SFI members from the hostel. The matter is being investigated," a police officer in Palakkad told NDTV.

Dr Sarasu has taught in the college for 27 years and retired with eight months left in office.

"I have poured my soul into working for this college. Is this all I get back?" she said.

LOL!

She must have been a real mean female.

Why did she have to make a police complain and ruin the future of students?

Grave Mistake on her part!

BTW why is it a police case...there is no dead body in the grave!LOL

Digging a grave is not a crime.

Head of Educational Institutions need to be a balanced personality, have sense of humour, jovial, friendly with staff / students besides being strict wherever it is necessary.

Madam,

Please have mercy on the hapless person!

It is a mental torture & harassment!!

Its not about mercy.

People should adhere to discipline, rules and regulations without being rude and judgmental.

Some types of personalities can NOT handle position and power..they feel they need to rule by iron fist and be rude.

One can be an effective leader while having a charming persona.

Good example is President Barack Obama...he is a no nonsense man but yet charming.

Same with the Late Dr APJ Abdul Kalam....no nonsense and disciplined but never made anyone's life hell.

I have noted females at times try to much to play the role of a nagging hag when they deal with students.

Its sickening.

I used to have such a teacher in the school I studied..it was sickening to attend her classes.

Its just that I never thought of digging a grave for her but many times I had wished for spontaneous human combustion to take place!LOL

I wonder why she wants to create a scene and lodge a police report and ruin the future of the students.

Doesn't she know that students are different these days and are not afraid to display their feelings?

If I were her...I would tell them ..dig the grave and I would lie down inside for a few seconds to make them happy but have someone to stand by to help in case the students actually start burying one alive!LOL

She could have handled this in a sporting way and students would surely regret their actions.

There are ways to handle wayward students.

They were not students. They were thugs of the Leftist Union SFI. You will find more and more unrests in the academic world in India as the carpet is being pulled from under the feet of the Leftist Elitists.

Government colleges have become a political breeding ground for many years now. While some of the colleges I know have very good teaching staff, hardly any students attend the classes. Most of the students while away their time, teasing, loitering, drinking or creating ruckus in the campus or elsehwere. There is scant regard for the teachers with many students being half goons-half political hands.

Some of the higher secondary students too behave a bit wildly recently. Students knifing their teacher for publicly condoning them etc are recently making news.

Years ago, I was travelling with in-laws, wife and kid, from a temple visit ( :) ) back to chennai via train. A host of college students boarded the train and started singing vociferously, banging their lunchboxes, the train interior, in short, on whatever seemed to them to make sound. It drove me mad (and am sure the other passengers too), and I was on the verge of rage and about to confront them, when I realized that should any problem occur it would be my in-laws who (are residents there) would be in trouble and quietened up. Thankfully, the cacophony died down soon and, even more thankfully, our stop came soon.

The Head of the Institution is to be assisted with other teachers in inculcating discipline to their students and the parents must be supportive to it with one aim it is done for the goodness of the ward and the budding society in future. Moral classes to be conducted and the teachers must be a good role model to them. It is a shame such an incident taken place in 100% literacy state Kerala. The parents of the students are also to be taken to task in order to put a stop to such incidents.

The extent to which students go is really sickening at times...How about faculty...Are they above board? There is a video in circulation about a college in Chennai where Professors are dancing to vulgar tunes, in a annual day celebration, along with skimpily clad woman..Not sure about the authenticity though!

Seshan, Sreedharan, EMS are strict disciplinarians..So may be this is a legacy of the past...But is it the way to treat a retiring Principal?
