A Simple Question

A customer comes to a Grocery Shop and buys Rs 200/- worth of Groceries and gives Rs 1000/-Note to shop owner.

Since the Shop owner has no change with him, he goes to the next shop and gets Change for Rs 1000/-

Returning with the change, the shop owner gives Rs 800/- to buyer as balance due to him and keeps Rs 200/- in Cash box.

After the customer had left, the next Shop owner comes to Grocery shop and reports to the grocery shop owner that the Rs 1000/- note given by him is Fake note and demands Rs 1000/- from him.

Now the grocery shop owner some how manages to give the next shop owner Rs 1000/-

Now how much money the Grocery shop owner has lost in this transaction ?

( altered renukaji )

Dear PJ sir,

What is the meaning of black note?? Does it mean counterfeit(fake)?

Cos black money means money that is not declared to government but it need not be fake.

The Tamil word used here in this is கள்ள நோட்டு which I think means fake note.

So I guess the translation here is wrong.

Anyway if black note means Counterfeit note...here is my answer:

The shopkeeper lost Rs 1000.

He gave back the next shop owner what was rightfully due to him..so that is settled..but the loss is what was that happened with the customer..that is the customer got Rs 200 worth of goods and Rs 800 worth of change which totals us to Rs 1000.

So the loss is Rs 1000.

Actually the question is very simple...it is made complicated by bringing in the next shop keeper...the real case scenario is if someone comes to the shop and pays with a fake note and the person leaves with Rs200 worth of goods and Rs 800 given as change for a fake note..so loss is Rs 1000 for the shop keeper.

1. It is 'fake' currency

2.The loss is:-

Goods worth Rs.200/=
Balance of cash returned Rs.800/=

------------------
Total Rs.1,000/=
------------------
The total loss to the shop owner is rupees one thousand only.

You need to join Class 3, take with you renukaji also as her answer is also Rs 1000/=

PJ sir..unless the customer gave a normal note and not a fake note but it was the grocery shop owner who had a fake note with him and was trying to cheat the next shop keeper.

Becos earlier he said he had no change but somehow he managed to get change..that means he had change all the while..

So in this case he lost nothing.

That is the only other answer I can think of.

renukaji

pl don't confuse yourself; it is a very simple question

Ha ha ha...

The Question is very simple

The First Grocery Shop keeper who has given grocery worth Rs 200/- to a Customer who has cheated him with a fake Rs 1000/- note!!

Got it ?

Now think calmly, use all your fingers if necessary, and come up with a correct answer , other wise ask your wife or grand children, they will tell you the correct answer!!

Sir,Oh, I think thisis totally unfair. For a question involving one customer, twoshop owners, 200 rupees worth of grocery, one fake 1000 rupee note, etc chances should be more. Think about itJ

shopkeeper-and-duplicate-note.jpg
shopkeeper and duplicate note

A very simple but confusing puzzle.
A lady buys goods worth Rs.200 from a shop. (shopkeeper is selling the goods with zero profit). The lady gives him Rs.1000 note. The shopkeeper gets the change from the next shop and keeps Rs.200 for himself and returns Rs.800 to the lady. Later the shopkeeper of the next shop comes with the Rs.1000 note saying “duplicate” and takes his money back.
How much LOSS did the shopkeeper face?
Check your answer:-

Answer

The answer is Rs.1000
How?
Solution 1

To get the loss of shopkeeper we can get the profit lady and the other shopkeeper.
Loss of first shopkeeper = (Profit of the lady + Profit of the second shopkeeper)Profit of the lady = Rs.200(for goods) + Rs.800(for the change she received) = Rs.1000
Profit of the second shopkeeper = Rs.0(as he got his money back)
So the loss of the shopkeeper is = 1000 + 0 = Rs.1000
Solution 2

Second way of looking at is what shopkeeper gave to others and what is took from others
Loss of the shopkeeper = What he gave to others - what he took. What he took
From Lady: Nothing(as the note was a duplicate one)
From Second Shopkeeper: Rs.1000
What he gave
To Lady:- Rs.200(goods) + Rs.800(change)
To second shopkeeper: Rs. 1000
So the loss = (200 + 800 + 1000) – (1000) = Rs.1000

Dear PJ sir,

What is this?? You are recruiting Bala sir using pressure?

If you want a faithful officer you need to confer him a post based on his ability and not with undue pressure.

Right now RR ji is on vacation...let her come back then she and I will handle you!LOL
