Even in the pre-independence era, Kalki led a strong movement for only tamizh isai kachcheri. No samskrit or telugu kirtanais were permitted. Even Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar was not allowed because he wanted to start the session with a samskrit kirtanai (his promise to his guru). Kalki has written an essay on tamizh isai.

One of the points mentioned in the movie
'Sindhu Bhairavi'
was to include Tamil songs in Carnatic music concerts!
Someone commented that this point should have come at least a decade ago! Sri. K B has told it very late!!

Dear Renu,

I saw this thread after S S Sir gave the link and asked me to go through! You have forgotten a

baby faced T B actor in your list! Guess who? Bharath! He is Ram's friend's son. :)

Dear RR ji,

Yes I am aware Bharath is a TB and he happens to be a cousin of Siddharth Narayan.
Bharath is trained in Russian Ballet and used to run his own dance school.

This chocolate faced baby boy still looks a baby boy despite his beard and mustache.
So what will he look like without them... a girl or a Glaxo baby? :decision:

I never knew about Mr. Ram's filmy connection! :)

There was a pundit, a real multi linguist. :clap2:

Ho spoke all the Indian languages with a perfect accent.

Nobody could guess or find out to which region he belonged to.

So a genius like Tenali Rama (was it he himself???) was

appointed secretly to find out the mother tongue of the pundit.

A secret and infalliable plan was hatched by the detective.

When the pundit was fast asleep (sound asleep) this detective

poured a pail of ice cold water on the pundit.

(Personally he would have preferred boiling hot water

but he did not want to land in hot soup by doing so!)

Guess the consequence...!!!

This pundit woke up screaming, "எண்ட அம்மே!"

It was proved beyond doubts that he belonged to Kerala.

Moral:

When we forget ourselves as in deep sleep

we also forget all the pretenses and return to our native state! :)

Oh NO!!!
This head DOES NOT belong to this body! :fear:

My pencil thin grandson looked very muscular in his spider man suit on Halloween day.

The mystery was solved when I saw the upholstery stitched into the dress!!!

images

In the movie Beowulf Anthony Hopkins appears as a huge bulging man. I am sure he wore some kind of body suit to look voluminous.

I hope this is not a similar case or a photo trick shot or a simple Picasa transplantation.

Dear VR Ji,

It is true....this is Bharat's new look...he is now a 6 pack Hot Bod.
I like his new look!

Bharath talks about his gym workout regime | Tamil Cinema News › KollyInsider

Actor Bharath has hit the gym with a determined goal to bag the muscular physique. The new pictures of the actor in a muscular look have been making rounds online.

Bharath explains, “I have been working hard for more than four months to get that muscular look. I’m on a protein diet, and I have been spending six hours in the gym everyday. It has become my second home these days. My fitness trainer Shiva is my pillar of strength. I underwent a complete muscular training to develop the muscular fit. People wonder how, but all I can say is, I was able to do it with sheer determination.”

He adds, “This look is for my upcoming film 555, directed by Sasi. This is an action film and I felt it was necessary to sport a stunning physique.” How has the feedback been so far? He says, “Suriya appreciated my efforts. He said that he could understand the challenge behind the workout. He was the first to sport eight-pack abs in Vaaranam Aayiram. So, he was talking to me about how difficult it could have been at the gym. His words really recharged me. Even Arya and Karthi congratulated me.”

I can't help thinking of the two stories - both involving a fox-
which generally explain most of our actions very well.

In the first one the fox says, "These grapes are sour!" :nono:
This is when we want to discourage people from trying something new!

In the second one the fox which had lost his lovely tail in accident says,
"I can see the stars during the day, after having my tail cut off!" :lie:

This is when we nudge people to try something of dubious nature!

But have these 5+ abs helped in promoting his career??? :ear:
I hope the 555 will have the effect of 777 and give an INSTANT boost
to the career of the ex-chocolate hero/present hunk hero Bharat. :)

I got it now!

They had everything needed to succeed

in their facial expression and voice modulation.

Now that these things are lacking other things
like count of abs have moved in to take their place. :whoo:

How did Sivaji, Gemini, MGR, Muthuraman and many others ruled filmdom

for several decades without these now-famous 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 abs??? :noidea:

Dear VR Ji,

Those times most heroes were either thin or with a slight paunch.
Heroines seemed too fleshy too cos at those time that was in!

Remember the over the limit eye make up for heroines of those days?

The elaborate hair do and buns etc and the way they used to walk excessively swaying like a duck?

So that was the trend then and now the trend is different.

6 pack is a norm now.

Even Shah Rukh Khan who is famed for his acting has 6 packs.

Well.... 6 pack trend is catching on..

My son also now tells me that "since Appa is the same age as Shah Rukh Khan I want Appa to have 6 packs too"
He said he wants parents to look fit and good and has even calculated a BMI for my husband and target weight too and told him also to work on biceps and lower body.
My son is really pushing his father to work out harder!LOL

Dear Renu,

You missed one important point! A huge flower clipped to the hair, near the right ear.

P.S: The walk is supposed to be 'anna nadai' (swan walk) though it was invariably duck walk!!

..... Just for my information please list out the Tamil non-Brahmins who are prominent in today's Carnatic Music world.......
Dear Sir,

I find that those who are able to sing well wish to take up light music, which fetches more money than Carnatic music!

Even those who learn Carnatic music wish to try their luck as play back singers in films. Huge money is the reason.

Dear RR ji,

I guess I must have had the Malay meaning in my mind when I wrote that cos there is a saying in Malay that goes "Bagaikan Itik Pulang Petang"(Like a duck returning in the evening) when describing a woman's slow and duck like sway.

Dear Renu,

During our naughty young days, we had one servant maid, who always wears white saree in the typical village style,

with all the pleats tucked at the back. We used to call her 'vAththAyi'. Now, I feel very bad for calling her so! :pout:

Dear Renu!
But that made them look like real-life-people
and not some factory product made to order.
In preparing to look like superman in future,
they forget to live at the present. :tsk:

An ugly duck = swan!

An ugly swan = duck!

They are so much alike!!

A Swan is one whom we like!

A Duck is the one whom we dislike!!

Ref#63.

Master VaruN is quite a task master.

I wish I had someone pushing me towards my ideal BMI.

I am NOT sure if I had come out of the elastic limit of BMI

and whether it is still possible to go backwards to the ideal ratio!

Dear VR ji,

But why pay money for cinema if the heroes and heroines look like the person next door?

I would surely want heroes and heroines to look good.

In the 80's most heroines did not look good except for a few.

The only few I liked in the 80's was Madhavi cos she wore sexy bikinis too!

Sri Devi was glamorous in Hindi but not so glamorous in Tamil movies.

I also liked Silk Smita, Anuradha, Jeyamalini,Disco Shanti cos I liked the cabaret style dances they used to do.

I liked Nadia cos she had a good dress sense and she still looks good now.

I did not like Revathi cos I found all her movies boring and she looks too simple for a heroine.

In 90's the heroines started taking trouble to look better.

Now I like Trisha..she is so cuteeeeeeeeeeeeee.

The huge flower if pinned at the nape of the neck will stand out like a street light.

The best place is near the ear since the head curves inwards there. :)

Even ladies in Hawaii do it in the same way!
