Silver lining! New year gift!!! I get webmd newsletter. You don't have to wait for long, till a 180 degree contradictory study-report is released.

A Few Extra Pounds Linked to a Longer Life

Jan. 1, 2013 -- Overall, people who carry a few extra pounds tended to live longer than those who are either normal weight or very obese, new research shows.
The review, of 97 studies that included a combined 2.88 million people, questions the notion that people of normal weight live longest.
“It is possible that under certain circumstances, being a little overweight is good as opposed to bad,” says Steven B. Heymsfield, MD, executive director of the Pennington Biomedical Research Center in Baton Rouge, La. Heymsfield wrote an editorial on the review but was not involved in the research.

The answer is simple..cos you see people only nag the overweight or the slightly underweight or normal weight people.

When people see an obese person they will be asked 'OMG what do you eat? why are so obese?'

When people see a normal weight or slightly underweight person they will be asked "OMG don't you ever eat? how come you don't gain weight"

So those with a few extra pounds here and there are spared these questions..so less stress..hence they live longer! Ha Ha Ha.

Dear sir,
leave alone the arts & cultural field, now if i am sure, no tamil brahimin is choosing civil services exam which was previously and pre-dominantly occupied by *******. What happened to them. Why ******* are not coming up in civil services.

Panchanatham chandrasekar iyer

IN olden days these kinds of jobs carried some dignity and personal integrity.
Now they are at the mercy of the ministers who have neither education nor etiquette.
They are given a hard time in their jobs by ever changing governments and ministers.
That is why our people do not prefer entering civil services any more.

I was just wondering..Can the Porn Industry be considered Art too?

Cos I remember reading Sunny Leone said it is easier acting in commercial movies cos there is a director,choreographer..re-takes etc but in porn industry it purely up to the actors to be their own director and choreographer for the stunts involved and no re-takes..so one has to get everything right!

So according to her one needs to be more talented than a commercial movie actor.

He can live with his 6 pack ab,
he can die with his 6 pack ab
but sadly, he can't carry them
over to his next birth! :nono:

Dear VR Ji,

I read before Paramhansa Yogananda said that our habits good or bad form vasanas and are carried to our next birth.
He did say that a person who is very regimented about food and exercise would have most probably had the same habits in his previous life too.

So going by that John Abraham could be having his 6 packs too in his next life!

:nono: Renu! Please do not start that topic.
Already this thread is full of semi-clad beauties!! :pound:

Dear RR ji,

Its Arts thread isn't it? All about films and movies and actors etc.

See we should have the all embracing concept and widen our scope beyond our imagination.

After all the human body is nothing but a conglomerate of flesh and bones and it's imagination that makes us bewildered.

yes, provided he sticks to strict regimen and also works out as intensely as in this birth!!!
His body will be new and he has to chisel himself into shape all over once again! :)

Coming to the main topic that Tamil Cinema has not attracted TB talent in droves, my view is that it is incorrect...Even during the 50's-80's period there was AVM group by the Chettiars...The top actors such as MGR, Sivaji were not brahmins...They did not speak brahminical Tamil unless required as by Sivaji in Vietnam Veedu, Gauravam & Paritchaiku neramachu...Probably the brahminical Tamil was in vogue in the 30's & 40's.

The Tamil commercial cinema which started with mythological stories started focussing on socially relevant themes in the 40's & 50's...This continued in the 60's & 70's too ...It was elitist to a large extent...The movie that ushered in a revolution of sorts with a rural theme was the blockbuster Annakili in 1976 by Devaraj Mohan...It brought Isai Gnani Ilaya Raja to name & fame...The movie ran to packed houses for almost 200 days...This was followed by 16 Vayathinile & Kizhake pogum rail by Bharathi Raja which were all mega hits...Soon the trend shifted to a rural bias...We had more movies with rural themes...I feel that the directors preferred the actors with the local slang (Madurai or Kovai)... Even here Kamal Haasan was successful...His role as Chappani was fabulous.

We have missed other TB actors in the list
1. Srikanth
2. Jayaram (Malayalam actor)
3. Saranya Mohan

The Tamil film industry is shrinking though it is the second largest after Hindi...The contribution to Tamil Nadu's GDP is a minuscule 0.1%...With revenues getting eroded due to video piracy, satellite channels the industry the industry is in doldrums (look at the opposition to Kamal Haasan's Viswaroopan in DTH one day prior to release in theatres).

Whoever has the charisma will succeed in Tamil Cinema, be it from any community

hi
i think the parasakthi was successful....due to against priest community/tb as whole....dravidian themes were successful.....even

k balachander tried to show some social brahminical stigma....like arangettram ....another trend was icm love stories...like

maro charitra/ek duje ke liye....

One more actress (hot most of the time!!) Gayathri Jayaram is a Tambram.

It took me a long time to get her photo clad in a saree!
