I have placed my faith in you for your protection, When the Yama kinkaraas approach me,
Oh Lord who always keeps Valli on your left side !
You live on the lovely pahzamuthirch cholai. You are the loving nephew of lord Vishnu.
You are the lord not only in Then-Pazhani but also of
Vada-Pazhani.
You the wielder of the Shakthi Aayudham, must come near me now.

You drank the divine milk of the Onkaara Sakthi Uma Devi.
You did upadesam to your own father as Swaminaathan.
You enjoy the proximity of the loving Valli, in the flower laden gardens.
You have cast your Velaayudham so as to destroy the cities of the wicked asuraas.
It is time for you to come to me, riding upon your victorious peacock.

Please explain "sishyaa". I tried googling - with no success - but i will continue to endeavour. In South Africa the poem is used to invoke people who are kavady bearers into a trance state.

Dear Mr. Ravi Pillay,

Sishya means the student (or disciple) of a teacher
(or guru). Since you called me guru, I called you as sishya. Nothing more than that.

The words of Avinaasi pathu are very powerful and the rhyme and rhythm are also very powerful.

Even when we read it as prose it does something to us. No wonder it is used to transport the kaavadi bearers to a higher level of human consciousness.

I wish to worship you with my mind and body to my heart's content. When I become your devotee, I become the devotee of all your devotees too.
Before the my physical body drops down and gets separated from my eternal soul, please come to me flying on your portly peacock - as strong and invincible as the mythological Yaali.

Yaali is a creature with a lion's body and face but bestowed with an elephants trunk and tusks. Yaalis are depicted on the pillars in the ancient temples of Tamilnadu.
