Brahmin Community - Disintegrating by settling abroad !!

Actually I was wondering that are we only concerned for decline of culture in our own community or are we concerned for the general decline of Hindu culture of Hindus all over the world?

What I mean is that I feel each community is only concerned about themselves just like how some Gounder will want to maintain their own culture, some TB maintain their own, some other caste also maintain their own.

I wonder who is really concerned about Jagat Hita(the benefit of the world)?

That way even Fraud Gurujis do a better job than most of us(every caste) cos till they get caught they are promoting spirituality that cuts across all barriers of caste and community!!LOL

Hi Renuka,

This is a big concern for all Hindus particularly those settling in the west. As I said, I heard the same sentiments from the Gujarati's & Bengalis in US. Infact the Bengali family were very upset that their grand kids "refused" to learn Bengali actively supported by his son/daughter in law :(

I just posted here as Brahmin community because it is TB.com. But this applies to all. I clarified this to Prasad also earlier, no intention to impose any kind of caste dominance here.

for eg. Nick Halley & Bobby Jindal dont even want to say they have a Indian lineage in their election campaigns :( Sorry if I am misquoting here, because I am just posting what I heard from my Indian friends settled in the US) !!

Cheers,
JK

Dear JK ,

Dont get me wrong..you see every community wants their community to thrive and prosper and culture maintained you did say that Gujjus,Bengalis too are concerned.

But I mean is how many of us Indians are concerned truly for each other?

You know its easy to know if anyone has Indian lineage.
just push them off the cliff and you will be hearing
"Hey Bhagawan..Arre Baap Re"

Hi Renuka,

Not at all. Appreciate your inputs/comments as always !

Agree, but we all need to do our part. even if every community does its bit, it will add up. I can clearly see alarm bells ringing among the bengalis, so there are many who will slowly wake up to this culture erosion & act on it !

Cheers,
JK

Dear vks190 ji,

Hope to see you share your opinion too.

I feel it is natural for culture and tradition to first take a back seat and then slowly deteriorate as one moves out of one's home ground. Many times what is left is some rituals and practices which necessarily do not make culture. But if one takes a conscious effort, one can establish culture in the immediate family and then at the larger society.

I think there is nothing wrong in migrating and settling abroad (after all it would certainly be a better place for a Tambrahm than TN ;-) ). I have seen people becoming more attached to the community/country while living abroad (lonliness factor may be). I hope if we spread the values of our tradition in our friends, family and community circle, we as a community will do well whether we are in India/abroad. P.S. I am looking forward to my migration out of TN as well after spending 23 years of my life here :-)

I hope you have a reason for your avatar :welcome:.
Your point is well taken, and I wish you happiness outside TN.
