My grandfather was an asset to our family! :thumb:

He taught Maths, English grammar and Carnatic music to me and my siblings, right from our tender age.

We used to address him in singular because he was just like our dear friend! :D

Dear Renu,

People hate grumpy oldies, who find fault with everyone around and s
hout at them all the time!!

They will be fondly referred to as 'chidumoonji's! ;)

Angry bird mama, chidumoonji mama, Alexander the great mama, grumpy mama and all.

No mamis?

Why this gender bias?

Do our Forum does not have members like Revolver Reeta, Gun Fight Kanchana.....mustache less Miniyamma...lol

Sir,

Perhaps mamis are busy in the competition of opening threads like Child rearing!, Bringing up oldies, etc etc.

In brahmin homes most have nicknames, every home has an Ambi or Thangachi.

Adding Ma to name seems nice.

In tamilnadu every girl / woman has an Amma added out of affection / respect.

Of course after some politicians bringing disrespect to this form of address , most would feel insulted being called Amma.

In north they would ask' Kya Amma lagthi hoon?' if you add Amma to any name.lol

We have far worse..we have Femme Fatale.

So, our mamas are really great that way!! Dealing with dangerous and deadly and far worse.....Femme Fatale like characters.lol

But I can hear one mama murmuring that we have enough experience in dealing with Anaconda..... Aadhiseshan....Kaarkodagan... etc

As such dealing with 'water snakes' is really a pleasure indeed.

We are Kundalini..no one can handle us.

speaking from personal experience.
Mothers are far more forgiving than fathers. I assume that mothers have less ego.
Fathers generally were the bread winners and used to getting deferential treatment at home and outside, expect it all the time.

Such questions are raised by those going through a mid-life crisis, only they do not know. Time to self-reflect !

Young adults do not care, they deal with their focus on future. Older people come in all kinds of varieties, shapes and forms. They understand. Some just get angry and are ready with insults at the drop of a hat (we all know one LOL)

Middle age people who are in a crisis create all kinds of imagined conflicts for discussions

Old of yesterday are middle age of today life expectancy having gone up over decades.

I would consider only those in eighties as old.

Sixties and seventies should not act old.

They can contribute to society and be self reliant in economic sense at least and not start hanging on children and sucking their income for their upkeep.

These acting old fellows are have become a menace in new india.

Shining intellect. Here is my thums up. I would like to give three thums ups for the brilliance. But there is no provision. How sad.

There are some who are perennial beggars.

They take out their begging bowl on the date of retirement .lol

They talk of old glory and put out tales of their mental, physical, financial miseries for consumption of all.

They emotionally blackmail children, sibling for a few coins from them telling them about their imaginary sacrifices for them.

They are fit cases for old age institutions.

Many spend years from late forties upto 60 or 65 putting away money for retirement.

But when it hits them , they feel that a disaster has hit them

Those who do not keep active with multiple activities both physical and mental are likely to decay faster than others.

It is wiser to follow ones passion after retirement have a career based on that.

One can get into activities like going to exotic locations , see the world around us, pursue our hobbies and interests.

Our life expectancy has gone up radically.

Eighties and nineties are common place.

One can live as many as 35 to 40 years after retirement.

It is meaningful to be very active atleast for couple of decades after retirement and be financially viable and health wise excellent.

Seniors can contribute a lot to society if they attempt.

Some stories of extremism practised by seniors.

1.in bangalore ,Hamsa shot her husband shiva as he drove her in SUV in hosur road. Both had drunk together earlier and got into a fight. He hit her in the car. That

infuriated her. she took out a gun she was carrying and shot him five times as he tried running out of car. He is in hospital getting treated for bullets lodged in him. She

has been arrested. They have been married over 25 years.lol

2.French candidate for presidency 39 year old Emmanuel Macron wife Brigitte Trogneut is 24 years senior to him . She was his drama tutor when he was 18 yrs old . He had proposed to her then . She

married him in 2007 and is 63 years old now. France might have the youngest president and grandmother of 63 years as first lady. Old is beautiful.

Cheer up all senior citizens here.

There is more to life than religious texts and bhajanai.

Prince Philip , consort of Queen Elizabeth of UK is contemplating retirement from official duties in six months when he reaches 95 years. The queen aged 91 years is quiet

about her plans. Who would not like to be queen for a lifetime.?lol

Let us seniors put aside our age and get inspired by the british queen.

We have everything to gain and nothing to lose by continuing our merry ways and give others around us heart attacks.lol

General Maneksha also don't want to retire..... but he was made to retire may be against his will and spirit...... bcos he is not Prince Philip.lol

We have an uncrowned monarch here in this Forum preaching everyone not to retire, even if one don't achieve the rank of a King. lol

This should be conveyed to the Prince.
