Can we buy second hand dolls

Hi , in our home there is no tradition of keeping Golu. I checked with Grandma and she told it used to be there but for the last few generation because of poverty we didn't do and it simply continued that way. We are not that rich and all now , but I want to follow the tradition and keep golu and paati also told nanna vaingo..

Now , coming to the question.. the dolls are sema costly now.. I also see a post on olx , that PPL are selling golu dolls .. is it ok to buy used dolls and keep ?? My idea is to buy few dolls new and rest buy used.. apdi panlama .

Please periyava sollungo

Hey, this might be a bit redundant now, but hopefully, it helps you for the next Navratri.

Though the dolls are not idols and not energized per se, it still would be good to wash them (if they are not wood) with Perumal theertham or Ganga jalam (or any Bhagwan theertham tbh) and dilute it with normal water. You can also chant or play some mantras in the background if you want.

Also, just a tip: start small and build your Golu collection. Most families have had their dolls passed down for generations, and therefore, they have quite a lot, but since you're just starting out, it would be better, IMHO, to start with a couple of good quality pieces, even if it's just a few. There are many who do this online that you can take inspiration from. Kuttia irundhalumein nanna vekkalam, it's all about how creative you can get.

Hope you are able to revive this tradition this coming Navratri!
