Cheers

Yay Yem

I like Monita Rajpal too, but my favourites were Anjali Rao (Talk Asia fame). She has left CNN now :( and Kiran Chettri (not sure if shes still there!

Dear Amala

That was just a "look-alike" of Dr Renu, - she changed her Avatar - maybe somebody
cautioned her of 'Drishti' !

True, I too haven't been seeing Kiran or Anjali for sometime now - Amanpour & Zakaria do a lovely job too.

Any idea where Ruby Bhatia has gone ? I thought she looked prettier than most contestants in the
World Beauty Pageant, (I think) in 1996 !

Yay Yem

:focus: This is a portion of the OP!!

There was no resistance from upper caste Hindus and the temple priest also cooperated with the protesters. He distributed sacred ash to all those gathered, breaking the shackles on customs that were more than a century old.

This is very sensitive and controversial a topic.
If there is any upasaka here on this forum, he/she will know the nuances of the soul's journey.
The jeevatma's karma cycle.

Each and Every single practise of the Vedas has a hidden meaning. That is the beauty of it all.
Many have attempted to interpret the Vedas to suit their convenience.
But, all of have miserably failed.

The True Meaning of the Vedas is hidden and is understandable only to the sadhaka by experience. Few such ones exist today. So, most of it is a ritualistic affair. Yet, the power remains so, in it's full form.

*** In the eyes of God, all are equal. However, if you yell at the surgeon for using isopropyl and for wearing gloves, except for staring at you and going about doing her job, she would not bother to explain. ***

*** Similarly, implementing God's own rules need to be done as a matter of duty for the good of all ***

*** If a person yells at you for following rules, it is his/her personal problem and lack of maturity...I know of North Karnataka women from the backward castes, who do not tread into Temples.

I asked one woman entrepreneur running a small garment-manufacturing unit that exports their producst and she replied in kannada " for us, it is our village deity that we are supposed to worship. she gives us whatever is needed for our life. we are happy with this. this is how our religious habits have been defined by our in-laws and this is what i am supposed to follow.

we should not enter that territory where many things are not known to us and land in trouble "

Even in Tirupathi, Kasi, Kanchipuram,...etc holy places, there are many who do not visit the sacred temples daily.
There are many, in these very places, who visit daily.

So...nett-nett, i guess, non-controversially, we may sum it up as

" God permits near himself the ones he decides to, irrespective of caste, creed and colour. The rest have to wait for the permit license from God "

dear harini iyer !
it is true .in Srirangam many people are having the practice of visiting arangan temple even though some others not habituated to it. it is said sri rengan will keep his devotee near HIM as long as he wishes and shift you else where when you are not in his grace.many people sold their property and left.
