This thread is opened as suggested by one of the honorable veterans with a sky high reputation.

All are requested to participate and post any useful information.

The word caste or any reference to caste should be avoided at all costs.

That implies NO Brahmin Bashing!

Now don't turn away saying, "Who wants this thread anyway!"

It is a challenge to prove that we too can talk amicably in a mature manner - without bashing anyone.

As for me I may remain a silent spectator
( a new possibility made known to me)
and watch the fun or may enter the thread
to share my views and reply where it is needed.

:welcome: to this new thread! :pray2:

Visalakshi Ramani.

hokay alright

lemme set the ball rolling

:phone:

Hello Mrs.VR,

How are you?

Had your breakfast / lunch / dinner?

Hows the weather? Rains are ruining singarachennai, no?

How are the kids? Best wishes to everyone.

Tata  bye, see you

dear H.H!

You could have toppled me with a feather. :dizzy:

A nice way to start the thread and the day ...

what with hugs and kisses too (???)

Thank you for your unusual (civil) response. :faint:

For a moment I thought I was dreaming.

Take care.

looking forward to more SUCH responses.

Thank you Smt. VR, for starting the thread. I do not know, nor am I made aware by any means about the sky-high reputation that you refer to. Anyway, it feels good to hear that. All along, I have been under the impression that many participating members and many silent members too, would perhaps prefer my exit from this forum.

There are many many things under the sun (and over, beyond) that to talk about. Let me first start with your own phenomenal achievements of 6399 posts, 105479 points besides a huge number of blogs. How was all these possible, within just 14 months? Can you let out the secret/s?

dear Mr. Sangom!

greetings and warm regards.

Surely you MUST be knowing your high reputation.
It is indeed sky high!!!

Just visit the "ranking" and everybody's jaatakam can be found there :)

Differences of opinions do exist everywhere.

Husbands and wives fight with tooth and claw (like cats and dogs) and curse and scold each other.

Does that mean that they want the other person out of their lives? Certainly NOT.

We can let out the steam and frustration only at home only to our loved ones and not in a public place and definitely not to a stranger.

So it is all in the game! Life is like that!

As for my posts and blogs, I have given up all my other hobbies like singing, playing veena, watching cartoons, animation movies and am spending EVERY minute of my free time in reading/ writing / typing/

I am also a workaholic to say the least.

Some may feel that the quantity does not matter and only the quality matters. To the best of my abilities I try to provide some quality also along with the quantity of the posts.

Thank you for the response. :pray2:

Hope this thread will pave way for many people to patch up, their differences in opinion as we two have done now. :tea:

with warm regards,
Mrs. V.R.

Dear Mrs.VR,

I have always hoped to be civil all the time

Just that there are times when "somethings" ruin the heart, and the brain becomes a hard boiled egg which i myself cannot swallow...and then the heart starts aching....and it all comes out miserably uncivil....My brain and heart were not designed for c***e issues, yet am into it.....please forgive me for the lack of civility...

Best wishes and regards.

I did not think there was any doo (difference of opinion) between us except the general group formation here. But I do not normally venture into forums other than GD and so may be I am not getting to see your prolific posts.

Thank you Mrs. VR for making an effort to bring to light the brighter and agreeable side of TamBram members. It would be interesting to note the Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hiye personality syndrome of our esteemed members being goody-goody here and baring their fangs elsewhere.

Regards

No problem Mrs. H.H. We all have our strength and weaknesses. No one is perfect really!
Nice to interact as though we are pen pals.
thanks for your kind reply.
take care.

After going through this thread, I am reminded of a program in some
TV channel where all contestants will be asked to speak only in tamil without using English words or without repeating a tamil word for the second time.
It was really a tough contest.
Ms.HH has already mentioned the prohibited word'C......'in one of her posting.

Dear Mr. Sangom,
If you do not read my posts then both of us are losers.
I miss a learned reader and you miss good posts :) -
those which appear in literature section especially.
Thanks for the prompt response.

dear Mr. Narayan,
Still it is an offer worthwhile I am sure.
It will give people a chance to bring to light their better halves at least in one thread in the Forum. :)
It is said, we smile when we are happy.
It is equally true that
by smiling we can make ourselves happy.
let us try both.

dear Sir,
Pranaams!
The word itself is not banned but naming anything specifically under that is banned. :nono:
So I think we can overlook that point :)
Yes, it will be a tough game but not too difficult-
if we have no deep rooted hatred harbored in our minds.
So let us play the game and enjoy a few happy and lighter moments in the forum.
Thank you for the feedback. :pray2:

Am very sorry about it...have edited it out..

Just the force of habit I guess. no harm done! :)
By the way when do you sleep dear?
It must be past midnight anywhere in the far west!:clock:

I manage to get 4 to 5 hours of sleep in 24 hours (that includes a 2 hour nap in the afternoon). Anyways, am into a lifestyle change since the past few weeks, and hope to be getting more sleep...well, now you know an additional factor that makes me uncivil - its lack of sufficient sleep..

Sleep is NOT a luxury as most people imagine.
It is a necessity indeed.
Minimum 6 hours to maximum 8 hours per day.
Neither more nor less for good health and good moods :)

Is Sleep a Luxury?

Sleep is the most misunderstood thing in our lives. Some people over sleep and waste away their precious lives, while some others think it is a waste of time to sleep and ruin their invaluable health.

Sleep is Nature’s way of putting us back in good health and mental alertness. Many damages are repaired and the whole body gets tuned to good health, while we sleep.

The amount of sleep needed by each individual varies from person to person. The new born baby sleeps most of the day. As we grow, the number of hours of sleep needed is reduced. In old age, people can hardly sleep. Time seems to hang heavily and each day seems to go on and on endlessly!

An average adult needs six to eight hours of sleep per day. If he gets to sleep for less than six hours, he is deprived of enough sleep. If he sleeps for more than eight hours, he is enjoying a luxury, which only a few can afford!

My father, a doctor, used to say,” Sleep is like a drug. The more you have it, the more you want it”. Truly just as a drug is administered in accurate quantities, sleep must by had in adequate quantities, neither more nor less.

Extensive studies have proved that stress, anxiety, anger, aggressive driving and drowsy driving are natural consequences of lack of sleep, known as sleep deprivation. But this can have more serious and far reaching effects on a person.

It affects a person’s physical and mental well being and indirectly affects the person’s emotional well being also. Sleep deprivation causes tension and anxiety. Both these along with sleep deprivation affect the immune system of the body badly. The person becomes susceptible to several diseases and health disorders.

The person is unable to get anything done properly. He is unable to focus, gets confused easily, forgets important things and remains high-strung most of the time!

Persons, who work at night, must learn to make up for the deficit of sleep during the day. Pilots and air hostesses, who are always flying across various time zones, learn to sleep when they become free- be it a day or night. Otherwise they will be unfit for flying the air plane and playing the hostesses.

In order to remain healthy and happy and have an alert and focused mind, we need to get adequate sleep. If necessary we will have to make some changes in our daily schedule to ensure that we will be “bright eyed and bushy tailed like the chirpy squirrel” when we get up!
Remember, Sleep is a necessity and not just a luxury!

Soothing Sleep.

Sleep is a natural and periodically recurring physiological state. It is characterized by the relative physical and nervous inactivity. It is also known by the lessened responsiveness to the external stimuli.

Sleep is essential for the physical and mental good health and also for their alertness. The hours of sleep needed may vary from person to person. A new born baby sleeps through out the day. An adult needs six to eight hours of sleep usually. Some people seem to go on well without sleep. But it is quite rare. Napoleon is said to steel sleep in tiny installments including when he was riding his trusted steed!

“Sleep” occurs along with many commonly used words adding rich shades of meanings to those words. Well! Here are a few.

“To go to sleep” is to fall asleep or become numb due to the pressure on a blood vessel. “To put to sleep” is to kill an animal in a humane way, to save it from excruciating pain -which is worse than death!

When two persons are “sleeping together” they are living as a “man and his wife”. A girl who is “sleeping around” is immoral in character.

“To sleep in” is to spend the night at the place of employment. But “To sleep on” something is to give it long and through considerations and with hold ones decisions till the next day!

“To sleep out” is to sleep in ones own home rather than at the place of work. “Sleeper” is a person or animal found sleeping. “Sleeper cars” and “sleeper compartments” have beds and bunks in the railway carriages.

A “Sleeping bag” comes in very handy when a person is forced to spend the night in an open area and while camping. It is a large bag with warm and soft lining and has a very long Zipper to enable the person to enter it ad zip himself to its comfort.

“Sleeping draught” is a bed time drink laced with a sedative or a hypnotic drug to induce sleep. This made into a tablet form is the famous” sleeping pill”.

“Sleeping partner” makes a large financial investment in a business but does not get involved in its management. He is also known as “the silent partner”.

A “sleeping police man “ is as effective as a police man awake– even though it is just a small hump built across the road to check the speed of the motorists.

The novel idea of “learning while” sleeping is welcome news to the students of all ages! “Sleep learning” or “Sleep teaching” is a new method evolved in which a person learns by listening to a tape while he sleeps on! The information in the tape is supposed to be absorbed by the sub-conscious mind of the unconscious sleeper.

“Sleeping Sickness” is often a fatal, endemic infectious disease affecting men and animals in The Tropical Africa. It is carried and transmitted by the Tsetse fly. High fever, utter lethargy, lack of interest in everything and total muscular weakness are the symptoms of this strange disease.

Indeed the word “sleep”–usually associated with lack of activities and consciousness– actually works wonders when combined with other common lack-luster words!

The goodness or the evil in the people is

LESS than what is being projected.

Goodness begets goodness.

Naughtiness begets Naughtiness.

Life is a perfectly polished MIRROR.

I have NOT given up my hobbies in order to write in the website.

It is the other way round.

Dancing is out of question - when I can't even walk confidently.

Playing veena requires the ability to sit on the floor or at least on a divan.

The first option has been ruled out long since.

The second one taxes the unsupported back.

Singing requires holding the breath or the song will be in bits and pieces without any continuity.

Also the sruthi keeps decreasing. So the time of singing has reduced slowly and steadily.

What else can I do to keep myself busy and active mentally.

We have to change with the changing abilities of the body.

Loneliness can lead to depression. Every one knows this.

An idle mind is a devil's workshop.

So to keep out the devil from its workshop and not to feel depressed,

I have to mingle with people real or virtual.

Nobody need worry about me in the family circle.

I feel more useful now than ever before - despite my limited physical abilities.

This is what makes our family circle worried. I have got another friend who forgets everyone in real circle of relatives and

friends, after joining the FACE BOOK. Here is the write up about her in my other thread.

Once Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru,Prime minister of India asked his Secretary Mr.H.V.R.Iyengar I.C.S. as to how many hours Mr.Iyengar was sleeping
and when Mr.Iyengar told him from 10Pm to 6 am,Mr.Nehru informed that, he as the Prime minister of India cannot have luxury of 8 hours sleep daily.
Mr.Nehru was sleeping only for 4 or5 hours daily. He was doing Yoga(Sirasasana)on a regular basis.
