Dear Ananthanarayanan,

Euro was not created to annihilate Pound Sterling; UK has not discarded its currency probably out of fear that its currency may get affected by the vagaries of euro. But US $ exists because virtually the whole world trade is transacted in that currency and every country is willing to hold its surplus in US$ which means US# enjoys that much loan from the world. Any change in this will herald the death knell for US$ and therefore US!
