You are exactly correct. No one can deny that instincts and impulses do not rule us.
Every one of us is honestly searching for happiness sometimes in the wrong direction.
It is all because of desire. Desire after desire sometimes makes one unhappy. Some
people think as what is the purpose of existence in this world. Just like your map
description, which is a reality, the power in the incandescent light is the electrical
energy. If we some ask some one, they would say, it is a scientific reasoning. Life
is a journey of discovering the self. It continues to change or keeps on changing,
evolving and one comes to know newer aspects through it. Hence life is one such energy.
Consciousness is the prime subject of all experiences. However, it cannot be objectively
experienced. Because, human nature is, it is constantly seeking always some sort of
happiness and peace not knowing the real source of it. As you say, everything is a
truth that exists in this world. For example wind is nature. It can only be felt. If it
is played through a flute one gets beautiful music. If it is practiced through pranayama
it becomes a Sadhana and one receives the requisite energy from it i.e. the nature to
come to its rescue.
